aaaaa, I'm in your shoes. I'm 19w1d and I most likely won't find out for three more weeks. There is a tiny, MINUTE chance that I COULD MAYBE find out tomorrow, but I honestly doubt it.

Okay so my appointment went fine. I was worried for a while at first because the nurse searched and searched for the baby's heartbeat and just couldn't find it. She was searching just a little higher than where she had found it at my last visit. Last time he was about half way between my belly b___ton and pelvic bone. Me and Oliver were both looking at each other like c___p, what's going on, but then she moved the doppler way up and found the little booger hanging out around my belly b___ton! :) Just as I thought though there was no u/s however I did ask the Dr when I was supposed to have one and he said that he wanted to see me back in a couple of weeks but before then he wanted me to have an u/s. Okay great. The u/s tech is only there every other Monday during the morning hours, so my only option was this coming Monday which made me happy because I thought I was going to have to wait another 3 weeks. However at the front the nurses were acting like that's way to early and most likely they won't be able to see gender which really is bothering me because this is the only chance we get until the next u/s which isn't until mid or late 3rd trimester right? We just can't afford to pay for one out of pocket right now. :( I'll be 20 weeks next week though, how could that be too early to tell? I mean, didn't a lot of you ladies find out at 17 &18 weeks? Are they just saying this so I don't get my hopes up just in case, or is it a little early still for a traditional 2d ultra sound to pick up on this? What type of u/s did you guys have, at how far along and are any of you overweight? I ask about weight because I'm overweight and I know that makes it a little more hard because they have to get the picture through layers of fat but I compared my u/s pictures at 11 weeks to other people's online at 11 weeks and they seemed just as clear so I don't know why this would be different. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and need to chill out but as all of you know because I've been whining about it so much. I WANNA know what I'm having and like Yesterday!!!! lol

Hi all, we also found out the gender a few weeks ago. I had a u/s at 17 weeks and another this week (19 weeks). Our babies are boys. So we've named them and I know where they are laying in my stomach so when I feel them kick me I can talk to them. It's pretty special.
On the down-note: the u/s this week showed that the one boy has a serious heart defect. The upper left chamber of his heart is not working and the aorta doesn't seem to be properly developed. Tomorrow I have to go to a university hospital where a team (gyno, heart surgeon, pediatrician, etc.) will be looking into what can be done, if anything can be done. The other baby is fine. I've been walking around in a kind of fog...I'm angry then sad then depressed... anyway I know I have to wait until tomorrow to find out further details. Oh yes, and a greyhound bus hit me (& car) on monday. The car's totalled, but I'm pretty good and the babies didn't get hurt from that. So anyway the babies are Jack & Luke, and Luke is the baby with the sad heart.

Flybear- I was 15w3d when I found out I was having a boy. She said that early she could only really tell if it is a boy who was in a good position, and sure enough when she looked there was a p___s plain as day! The u/s tech told me the 3 lines for a girl and the turtle for a boy should be seen clearly (if in the right position) on a 2d u/s between week 18 and 20 but as early as 16 weeks. But no 2d can guarantee the s_x. I am considering the 4d ultrasound to be sure. It is $150 dollars, but it may be worth it since it lasts for an hour where I can just sit and watch my baby "play" and it comes with tons of pictures, a video, and a guarantee of gender.

Monstera, I hope everything works out and in February next year you have two healthy little boys to take home. I'm thinking about you and little Luke! I feel like c___p for whining about not knowing what I'm having when I hear that other people are going through much more important things. I'm truely humbled and we'll be praying for your precious little one.

Thank you very much for your prayers. Yesterday we went to the specialist and had a 2 hour u/s. Jack is absolutely perfect. Luke has hypoplastic left heart syndrome which is a very very serious condition. Luke will be born in the university hospital and as soon as he's stabilised hé will be operated on. There is a chance he will die from the first operation. Then within the next 2 years or so he will receive 2 more operations. The chance of survival at that point is more positive. He will be a child that will always need more care, need to be more careful, stop playing sooner than other children. It could also be that at about 30 years he will have to have a heart transplant becauset his operation won't do the trick anymore. On the other hand, there is treatment available. It's not necessarily a hopeless case. With a positive att_tude and his little brother for support, we hope he will live. And of course, this is a sign again that God has special things planned for all of us. I believe that God only gives us as much as we can handle. That means we can handle this too. Still, I am sad...

angel: it depends on your build and your weight when you get pregnant as to how much weight you are supposed to gain during pregnancy. women who are skinny need to gain more weight as they may not get enough nourishment naturally and then to get pregnant...well, that baby will take what he/she needs, but it leaves you feeling like arms or legs will fall off lol. or maybe that's just me. but 1lb a week is just as healthy as 2-3lbs a week and you should never be hateful or ugly and say that because someone is gaining less than you that their baby isn't growing enough. maybe you'll have a pudgy baby? ever think of that? you know those women that give birth to toddlers at 13lbs? mhmm?? with no drugs??!! yeah that's too hardcore for me. i think i'd have to be knocked out and just meet my baby when i woke up lol. ah yes, and i'm going to guess boy for you. dunno why, i just feel it. so if i'm right, I CALLED IT!
monstera: i'll keep your little sweetie in my prayers tonight. maybe he just fell behind in development and will catch up nice and fast and be giving you heartburn in no time!
newbaby: sounds like a girl to me =P my little stinker has stayed around 155 for a few months now.
i'm hoping at my next appointment on the 30th that we can get a confirmation that it is a girl. both times we've been told girl it was more of a "well i can't say 100% but i'm pretty sure it's a girl" which was enough for me and dh to go out and buy little dresses, but now that i have a closet full of pink from a baby shower, i'm getting a little nervous lol. and the sad thing is i'm 31 weeks and i'll be 33 weeks at my next ultrasound lol. darn little shy thing!

Well Teddy luckily heartrate has nothing to do with boy/girl. We really really want a boy. I know it sounds bad to say, but we'll be quite disappointed if its a another girl. Though we'd get over it and be thankful for a healthy baby. I wanted a boy with my daughter and now cant imagine not having her.
