I had a LEEP procedure done about 8 years ago and I am pregnant now. My doc seems not to worry about this, but I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had a LEEP done and carried a baby just fine??

I had 2 leeps and all of that fun stuff done in 2002 & 2003 and the doctor is keeping an eye on my cervix. They said it is looking great. This is my first pregnancy so I am really worried about my cervix since they cut out the inside of it and the bottom of it. :S

i had a leep procedure done in '99 and i get my cervix check every two weeks. i'm 27 weeks and the cervix is fine for now although i have a prenatal visit on thursday....so we'll see. shelley, lie down as often as possible - that takes the pressure off your cervix.

Now I'm wondering.... My doc hasn't checked my cervix one time sinse I've been pregnant and I had a visit at 6 weeks and 11 weeks, and I had my Leep done there so they know. I'll ask him when I go in 2 more weeks. I worry because I have a waitress job and run for about 6 hours straight a day, I go to school, and work out; but my doc acts like it's OK. Thanks everyone

My cervix was measured last month and this month and it hasn't changed. It was 3.4. BUT my doctor said my pregnancy is a HIGH risk because of the leeps, that I can ONLY walk for exercise and try to be off of my feet as much as possible with NO lifting. They checked my cervix at 14 wks and again at 21 weeks. The nurse who set up my last u/s DIDN'T set up a trans v____al u/s to check my cervix. I called my dr's nurse a couple of days BEFORE my u/s to make sure that she had set the trans vag u/s up and she hadn't. So, I told them that I want them to check it and so she put it in order to check it. YOU have to keep asking the dr. about it because they can forget! Good luck!

jaci, how far along are you now? shelley, you need to get your cervix measured! if your cervix is starting to thin out, then you can have a clerage st_tch put in. the earlier the st_tch is put in the better! look up incompetent cervix on the internet - it'll give you tons of info. my doctor did the same as shelley's - i was put on a high risk pregnancy simply because of the leep procedure i had done in '99. be adament with your doctor about having an v____al ultrasound done every time you have a prenatal visit.

Shelly- I have had two LEEPS and CKC. I am currently 22 weeks with my first child (a Boy!!!) The thing that they need to watch closely is your cervical length. They measure mine every month to look for shortening of the cervix. As long as they continue to moniter it you should be fine carrying your baby. If you do begin to thin or shorten they will give you a cerclage (a tiny stich in your cervix to keep it closed) and mioght put you on bed rest. Be proactive and ask the docs to check your cervical length, but as long as it's good, relax and enjoy your baby!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys! I am 22 weeks and I have had 2 leeps, 2 cone biopsies, and 2 ECC's....the first round was Nov. of '02 and the second was Jan. of '03. I had adenocarcinoma in situ....the rare form of cervical cancer which is on the inside of the cervical opening and goes up towards the uterus so they basically hollowed out my cervix. :S

I had a LEEP done in '03 and my doctor isn't too concern either. I was told that more than likely I have scar tissue and that may cause the delivery to take longer - but won't cause any complications.

Hi Shelly. I too had a LEEP proceedure done back in 98. My doctor was aware of this (I told her) and she checked my cervix length both at 16 weeks and 20 weeks to make sure it was ok. With proper care by your doctor, it shouldn't be an issue as far as carrying the baby to full term.

Just got back from doc, and he's putting me in a program at the hospital so I can get my cervix checked every 2-4 weeks. He told me it wasn't necessary, but I told him I would feel more comfortable. I'm so active, so I would rather be safe than sorry.

Great news Shelly. I'm glad to hear that your doctor is willing to do what will help put you at ease. I'm sure everything is going to be fine but do be sure to take it easy, ok?

I have had a LEEP procedure. It was about 4 years ago. I'm 21 weeks into first pregnancy no problems and my Doc says there is nothing to worry about since my paps have all been normal since then. Good Luck.
