Hey Ladies,
it's been super busy at work lately, so I've been reading posts but haven't been able to respond in a while.
I'm 23 weeks today!! YAY growing BIGGER everyday. I have bad dreams at night about premature labour and birth and so every week that goes by I celebrate as my baby is that much more well developed.
Also trouble sleeping, general aches and pains, but I haven't been sick in weeks, that's a really nice feeling, sadie, sorry you can't go off the diceclectin yet :(
I had an appointment earlier this week, everything looking good, although I do need to keep my water intake up which I try really hard to do, but.. I just don't like drinking water :( I had a night of crampiness a while back that the midwives thought was from dehydration, but I don't want to have that again, so I've got my water bottle.. and of course am running to the loo all the time!
Lucy, what you described of your dizziness at the mall, I've felt the exact same thing.. only when I was younger and not pregnant. I've never fainted, but that's exactly what my body felt right before I would have if I hadn't sat down. It's happened when I was especially tired or on my period.. so I think low iron or hemoglobin issues is pretty reasonable. Not hard to fix. and relatively normal.
Tracy, sorry to hear your news, I'm sure I would feel initially devestated as well, maybe read lots about club foot and in a few days hope you're feeling better and more adjusted to the shock. I don't know a lot about it, but to me, it seems like a harelip or something, fairly common but devestating 50 years ago.. whereas now, so easy to fix even before baby is walking so it shouldn't really effect your lives much at all. Better a problem with the foot than the heart or brain!
ooops running out of time. I love checking in how you all are doing! Thanks for being there ladies!

Hey overtaken good to hear from you! 23wks is something to celebrate for sure. Your baby would likely beable to survive if born 24wks onward (not that you WANT that) but at least he/she would have a fighting chance.
Tracey, how you doin today girl? I think Overtaken said it perfectly when she said better a foot prob than heart or lung. You've got so much to look forward to. And once the initial shock wears off you'll beable to start coping with the impending problem.
AFM-Ok, so the GP I see happens to be a friend of ours. Dh and him have been friends for over 10 years. He's a really good doc and I totally trust him and respect him. (background info) So before I got pg I informed my IVF doc about a prob I encountered during the pg of my last child. That is the fact that I have Anti D antibodies in my blood. This is due to the fact that being rh- the doctor who had taken care of me with pg#2 forgot to order a shot of Rhogam after ds' birth. Duh! Soooo, if anyone doesn't know, the reason why they give that shot is to protect any future pg's from being affected b/c if any of baby's blood mixes with the mom's blood then mom's blood would build up antibodies to fight it off. Well, obviously during birth there's a very high chance of that happening. Well I was probly just at the beginning of 2nd tri when they found out I had these antibodies. So basically if MY blood were now to mix with baby's blood at any stage, it would start killing off baby's blood b/c of the antibody. This can cause high billirubin levels in baby resulting in probs. The worst being death but second being downs and many other complications. DD had to have a blood transfusion (only a top up thank goodness but..)as a result of this and its supposed to be worse with each subsequent pg. So I have to be monitored closely espec. during the last tri. So my IVF doc told me to make sure I get in to see an OB at the hospital where I am to give birth and to do it soon so this doesn't get overlooked. Well, I've done everything I could to make sure that happens. But to no avail. My gp would tell me its still really early and yada yada.
Well, now I'm nearly 21 wks and I'm supposed to have an amnio at 24 for this and I haven't even seen the spec yet! But there is a happy ending. After crying in front of gp yesterday, he faxed over the referral straight away,(putting URGENT on it) I got an appt for mon at spec, and later on in the day he even called IVF doc to discuss and decided to give me a req for a blood test to see where things stand at the moment. The last part was especially cool cuz he certainly didn't have to go out of his way to phone ivf. So I'm happy for now. He's made up for dropping the ball in the first place. So this is called RH disease. NOT common at all these days. IVF doc who is also an OBGYN said that he hasn't seen a case of this for probably 10-12 yrs.

Yeah, that doc was dumb indeed to have forgotten something so vital. And I had just been through 18 hours of hard l&d so that was the last thing on MY mind! Now in the last few days though I have noticed a tightening of my tummy. Def not contractions. It actually stays tight and stressed feeling for hours at a time. It has me a bit concerned. I have my appt at the antenatal clinic at hospital in the morning though. And today I'm doing nothing but resting.
Lucy are you in Jordan yet? Does it scare you to be where there is so much unrest? Do you have to take any special precautions when going anywhere there? What are the grocery stores like there?

no rc, jordan is an amazing place its so peaceful in there and nothing is happening.. just like anywhere else..Amman, the capital, is such a wonderful place it has all sorts of coffeeshops, malls, and entertaining places. Aqaba is located on the red sea as well and u can go in a sea cruise over there and enjoy the view also there are gla__s boats where u can see all sorts of fish in the sea. Dead sea is a must go if ur so into spas, the mud spa is amazing although i never tried it before :'( and Petra ofcourse was cla__sified as the 8th wonder of the wonder :) i think u said that cz its close to palestine? no actually i LOVE the place the weather is amazing and we're waitting for it to snow when we arrive there :) it will be my first time ever to see snow *sob* lol.. we're planning to go by the 20th God willing.. i should teach u some arabic, r u interested? :D u could learn some words until we deliver our babies hehe :)

lol grocery stores :D they have mini markets or grocery stores like the rest of the world. in neighborhoods, its usually a small place which sells bread, juices, sodas, and important things that ppl might need everyday (diapers, pads, canned foods, cigarettes, instant coffee, water, and so many more) some of them could have some fruits and vegetables too. it really depends on the size of the grocery store. in malls and the city center, there are hypermarkets and supermarkets that sell almost everything including simple furniture and clothings :)

btw i wanted to ask if anyone of u know if this is common.. the last 2 days i've noticed that the baby's moves are less frequent than it used to be.. i feel them, just not as much as i used to 2 weeks before.. is it normal? i started to freak out this morning and its currently poking me from the inside and i can feel it, but not as strong. i have an appt with my OB on the 19th.. should i be worried? :(

I would say that as long as you're still feeling movement at all then everythings fine. Baby could be just having a couple of sleepy days or could be starting to run out of room. I too have been experiencing a bit less movement in the last couple days and so I understand how the thought is always there in the back of your mind. I have an appt this am at the hospital clinic though so I'm happy about that. I can ask about this tummy tightening thing,It's not tight right now but was all day yesterday. My biggest fear is that I've got some sort of infection and it's going to get pa__sed through to baby. They did find some white blood cells in my urine on Fridays appt. So they sent it off to the lab for more testing. Doc didn't act alarmed to me about it though. Anyways, I also get my blood results from Saturdays test as well this am. Drink a coke Luce and see if baby comes alive. Keep us posted.
Oh and about Jordan, I guess I just hear or have heard that in the past and thought it was full of civil unrest. Gotta run!

GL with ur appt rc and hope that white blood cells is nothing.. last night dh took dd for a walk and i was listening to celine dion's power of love and i think the baby loved it especially that it was really loud it was all over my inside!! i loved the way it felt and kept listening to it 100 times :p its moving now as well so that made me feel much better :)

Hey girls 22 weeks today - yippppeeeeeeeee!
Just like to thank you all for all the support you have shown me and my baba! It's much appreciated. I have got another scan today so we'll see what happens today! I am feeling a lot better about it I think you were right RC it was just the inital shock, no one expects to get bad news about their babies but as Scott says it could have been a lot worse. At the end of the day my little frog is going to be loved no matter what.
Overtaken - 24weeks for you this week - how exciting!
RC- I cannot believe the carlessness of your doc! How has you tummy been? How did you get on at the hospital?
Lucy - It's good and exciting when you feel you baba moving about aint it? My mum and dad have taken to taking to my tummy. it's so funny! I have to admit I sing to my 'growing' bump when theirs no one arround too.
How is everyone feeling when their in their beds? I am feeling that I can't get comfortable at all! I have tried sleeping on my left side as that is seemingly the best sleeping position, but I feel I am only comfortable when I'm on my back!!!! Is this bad????
I had lunch with 5 of the girls I used to work with on Sat I really think that helped pick my spirt_ts up! It was such a good day! They bought me some little outfits and kerry who's a shop-a-holic bought me tow pairs of shoes a girl pair and a boy pair. I still don't know what i'm having!
I have got a really bad craving..........cheesecake!!!! OMG i have been eating it like it's going out of fashion.......there may be trouble ahead!!!!!! ha ha
Speak soon girlies! xxx

Tracey I really enjoyed reading your post. Glad you're feeling better about things! Yay for the 22wk mark. Every week that pa__ses brings us 1 wk closer to actually having bubbies in our arms! I'm sleeping quite well actually. I have 2 pillows. I'm comfy but the only reason I wake is to go wee unless its because my brother in Canada is calling me all upset and has been drinking to boot and doesn't know the time!!! I'm sad. He's 27 and an alcoholic. Unhappily married to a total beotch who smokes pot all the time and has a 2 yr old who's sweet as anything. What can I do? Not much I reckon.
Aaaanywayyys, the doc appt went swell. Spent 4 bloody hours at the ante natal clinic! But I really am happy with the way they cared for me. First was heaps of paperwork and history I gave to the midwife. Next was an appt with the resident doctor who consults with someone higher up who consults with the obgyn. It's kind of a strange system they have here but the doc I saw was very with it and was actually somewhat annoyed that my gp didn't take this prob more seriously. I had had a blood test on Sat which came back with a moderate amt of antibody in the blood so I reckon from here on out I'll be on fortnightly blood tests and possible monthly scans. Also, the bp tested a bit high today so she sent me for bloods to check for pre eclampsia just to be on the safe side. Tummy felt so so yesterday but fine so far today. Doc didn't say too much about that feeling. I guess as long as it isn't contractions its not a major deal?
Today I'm just gonna be chillin (or should I say MELTING!) with 33degree weather and 81% hmidity. I want air conditioning!!! :( Hey Korey how many weeks are you?

I think baby is sideways. And I'm pretty sure he or she keeps turning every which way. I wish we could have a scan at every appt! Do you have socialized medicine there in Dubai?
And Trace. I agree about the treats. You can pretty much get away with anything when pg but it could catch up to you. I ate c___p during my 2nd pg. Ate so much junk food and gained about 40lbs. He was my smallest baby and is so small even now. My ds who is 21mos younger is bigger than him! He doesn't have a healthy appet_te at all and is so skinny. I don't know if it's b/c of what my diet was like when he was in utero but he is def different from the other two and even has a major sweet tooth compared to the others. I'm temted to say that it was b/c of what i ate though. No proof though.
btw, bloods and urnine came back perfectly normal. So I'm good to go for a couple more weeks till my teiter. Where's everyone?

Hey Ladies,
RC- glad you got in to the hospital to talk about your RH, I remember learning about what can happen if you don't get the shots and are - in highschool. We also tested our blood to find our bloodtypes but i can't remember mine now. They've done my test months ago now though and haven't mentioned any problems at my appointment, but now I think I'll ask just to make sure! I've heard it's been hot hot hot in Aus! I can't remember, what city are you in? you're not near melbourne are you?
Lucy - I've heard jordan is just beautiful! I think RC is remembering though the scary times a few years ago when they were getting caught in israeli-palestinian crossfires. OO I know some arabic! Ok. I know one word. Habibi :P
i have really close friends who are egyptian and have tried to teach me some, but that's all I can remember right now, although I recognize the accent and when it's being spoken really well now. They've recently moved back to egypt though.
At my last appointment they mentioned the babies heart beat was lowish.. 125 I think, they thought it was sleeping. Then I didn't feel a LOT of movement for a day or two and was worried, although my midwife hadn't been, a day or two later babe was at it again kicking up a storm. There was one night I could feel simultaneous movement ALL over my belly, like the baby was really swimming and moving all of it's body all around, really neat! So I think a day or two of slow movement isnt' a worry.
tracy - glad you're feeling more positive! Your baby will be beautiful!
I still feel really uncomfortable at nights too, we've been housesitting at our in laws all last week, and came home finally last night, I realized with gratefulness what a good mattress we have! I'd been having lots of backache from the other bed, and not enough pillows. Even still I use my body pillow and two more besides and still toss and turn a lot trying to get comfy.
I've been craving more unhealthy sweets too, at the beginning I wouldn't touch them, but now suddenly I always want to eat what I shouldn't. And I just turned down the GD test because I hate bloodtests and am nowhere near a risk category for diabetes, and my urine levels have been fine so my midwife left it up to me but said there was no reason for me to need it at this point.. and so I said no. but now just cus I'm not getting screened I'm all worried about eating too much sugar :P And my wieght has finally gone up, I've gained either 15 or 20 Lbs so far (depending on pre-preg wieght, i'm not sure) which for me is just fine, as i was borderline underwieght I know but I've NEVER weighed so much before and find myself wanting to eat less, or not so much carbs .. but then I'm so hungry all the time so I do anyway.
I've also been feeling crummy the last few days, just really tired, and kinda backachy, cus of the bed we were sleeping in maybe or sitting at work all the time. I've had a small headache too in the evening the last couple days, just blah! It's hard to get comfy to rest, I feel.. run down I guess. I think it might help to get into the gym in our building and do some walking on the treadmill.. but then if i'm feeling tired already after work it's SO hard to make myself go do that and I also don't want to OVER do and get crampy. Ah well, I've got an easy week at nights this week, maybe I'll rest up and then try exercising next week. What have you gusy been doing for exercise?

rc-- im glad ur tests came back normal dear thats so rea__suring!! i didnt exactly get what u meant by social medical or i forgot what word u used lol sorry :-\ but thats the way it happens here.. i go to a private hospital although im not insured this time (had a very good insurance package when i was pregnant with dd from my job) but since im a sahm now and dh's insurance doesnt cover maternity, i got a maternity package from the hospital which makes it a bit cheaper than paying visit fees each time..love my dr and cant imagine having someone else :p call me picky hehe
overtaken--waaaaaaa i hate when its bed time cz of the torture i go through trying to sleep comfortably!!! no matter what i do, my hips get so sore cz i sleep on my sides now..usually i sleep on my tummy so its a huge change for me during pregnancy..also, im suffering from a very very very bad backache which got me into tears ysterday cz i couldnt sit up straight after laying on the sofa!! it hurts so bad wonder why.. just my tail bone so i think it got misplaced or something to cause all that pain lol ;p hehehe loved ur arabic word :)
about exercise, i do none!!! im not a gym person by any means and hate exercising and i know this is terrible.. im glad i can stay fit without having to go to the gym :p although like u overtaken, we have a gym and swimming pool at our building and its for free but i never go.. dh and dd go swim sometimes but i've been there once maybe and thats it.. oh, i go for walks in the mall if u count that :D lol.. take care girls.. gtg have breakfast :)
