ok, so I am strictly bottle feeding (no br___t) and I have no idea how many bottles I will need!!! I'm going glass due to the BPA, and they're expensive so I don't want to overdue it but I also want to register for enough. any advice from mommies would be much appreciated! also, if you can recommend how many of each size that would be soooo helpful too! thanks guys! :)

Hey gabby. I bottle fed with my dd and honestly it doesnt really matter how many bottles you have. The more you have, the more you use which means the more you have to clean. I used the Dr. Browns bottles and got the feeding set which comes with all different sizes. Eventually I bought more of the bigger ones, but you could survive with just one bottle if you really needed to. In the beginning you will only need the small ones. Its hard to say how many you will need. Are you pumping or formula feeding? Just curious because with formula you can make a bunch of bottles in advance for the day and just keep them in the fridge so you may want more bottles for that. I'm not sure how it works with the pumping b/c I didnt b___st feed. Anyway, hope this helps.

thanks for the imput! I'm formula feeding. i'm so confused b/c the born free bottles that I want are $10 a BOTTLE!!! I just don't want to constantly be washing bottles and I want to have some in the fridge on hand ya know?? so far I registered for (10)-9 oz bottles and only (4)-5 oz bottles b/c she won't use those for that long right? I don't know!!!!

that should be plenty. She totally wont be using the smaller ones for long at all. My daughter didnt use the smaller ones for too long, but even if she does four of them should be plenty. I always just rinsed and soaked immedaitely after she was done. You could also use the bigger bottles at any time also. Like even though it is a 9oz bottle you can make only 4 oz of formula in it. Does that make sense???

Evenflo makes a BPA free bottle that comes in a three pack that is a lot less expensive if you need a cheaper option.

The bottles I mentioned are plastic as well. I saw them at Babies"R"Us, they are probably on the wesite as well.

gabbysally, just to let you know, before you start storing ready made bottles, most formulas have active enzymes to mimic b___stmilk but they break down after a period of time one that i know, similac is after 1 hour so research the formula you are going to be using before you store them for long periods of time

I b___stfed, so I don't have much experience in how many a newborn goes through, but if you figure your baby will eat every 2 hours, you'll need at least 6 bottles to get through the night without having to wash them at 2am. If you figure your newborn will eat around 10pm, then again at midnight, again at 2, you'll be washing bottles if you don't have clean ones ready to go. I would NOT recommend buying the small sizes - the 4 or 5 oz. You'll use them for such a short period of time, a few months at most, and of course you can fill a large bottle with only a couple oz. If you do choose to get the 5 oz's, you'll need to get the same number or more as the larger sizes. An infant eats much more frequently than a 6 month old.

I got through with only 3 b/c you want to wash them immediately anyway.

Hi Gabby. Check online. I found 8oz gla__s bottles, a 6pk for $10 at toysrus/babiesrus. (Evenflo brand). I saw some on auction through eBay for $155 for a 4pk! You dont need to spend that much! Or Froogle gla__s bottles online, you'll find them at the same price as the plastic ones. Good luck to you! BTW - the 6pk of bottles has been more than enough and my not so little guy is taking 40oz of formula a day!

what is the difference and/or significance between using gla__s bottles and plastic bottles? I will be b___stfeeding, but i will be pumping since i will work during the day. and then using my b___st when i am home with my dd.

honestly the less you have the better. for me i had a ton and found that i didnt wash them as much and so it would just build up. I would say that three to four would be plenty.
