I know this is more of a personal thing, but anyone have any thoughts on how many kids is the perfect number to have?? I wanted 4, but now that I have a boy (18m) and girl on the way, I'm thinking that two would be perfect. But is two enough or do you feel like it's not enough? i have 3 brothers and love having lots of siblings. But, I want to have a life of my own ... outside of being a stay at home mom and wife... so that seems pretty much impossible to do with 4. And I want to travel all over the world... and with my husband's job, that will be a possibility.. so that would get really really expensive with lots of kids. Dahhhh... so indecisive. Any ideas??

Hi angelinakai - just to put in my 2 cents worth... I am pregnant with #4 and wouldn't change a thing. My kids are DD1 - 11yrs, Ds1 - 10yrs, DD2 - 17 months, and DS2 - due July 26. Don't base your family size on travel plans, but on what your heart wants. Whether you have 2 or 4, you will adapt your lifestyle to fit around it. If you can afford to have the larger family (which undeniably will cost more), and this is something you want, go for it! No one says you can't have a couple of kids, do your travelling, then have a couple more. There are ways to accomplish anything! Good Luck.

good point Babyblue2. I feel like my reasons for only wanting two are all a little superficial. I don't think I got enough attention AT ALL when I was little. But that may have been more bc of my parents than the fact that there were 4 of us. With 4, do you feel like you will be able to give them all attention and still have time for yourself?? i want to homeschool my kids and do volunteer work, play sports, ect... is that all possible with lots of kids? Would be great to have more hours in a day, I guess :0) its a very hard choice to make!!

Angelinakai- because I have 2 older ones, they help out a lot! They love their little sister and are able to entertain her, feed her, change her, all while I get stuff done around the house (or take a few moments for myself). I won't lie... its busy! But so was having 2 kids! I work full time, and try to spend time with the kids when I can. I don't think they feel deprived of attention, because they also have each other! As far as travelling goes... DH and I took the kids to Aruba for a week in January, and we had lots of fun. Was a little challenging travelling with a toddler while being 3 months preg (and sick as a dog), but we managed just fine. As I said before... you learn to adjust to your new circ_mstances. I wouldn't have it any other way, even though I know that once DS2 is born, a whole new period of adjustment will begin!

For me, two is (hopefully going to be) a great number. I grew up with one sibling, and DH grew up with one sibling, and it was great for me. I don't like large groups, so that's probably a factor as well.
