hey ma - you have my email - you sent me one! :) haha...we don't have a name picket out yet and probably won't till he's born. We can't decide on anything - we like James - but that's all we've come up with. I tried to email you photos too but it came back to me - I can try again later. If you want, you can see some of our photos on my dd's blog - rachelreneestory dot blogspot dot com . There are a few photos of myself and my dh - but no belly ones. :) I'll try to email you again later, the pics might be too large. As for the breech thing - I'm trying not to worry since it is early, but I want to do anything I can to make sure he moves!!!! I've been sitting on my lazy b___t on the couch for months now and I KNEW this would happen. I was told in a birthing cla__s a few years ago not to sit on the couch all the time, that it tilts your uterus/pelvis and you have a higher chance of breech births. The lady said to sit on an exercise ball and roll your hips on it. Like I can do that all day long! I have an 18 month old who wants to get on it with me. :) Guess I'll have to start trying though

hello girls......... finally back from the doctors and yay!! NO AMNIO WAS NEEDED!!!! Firstly, we had to sit down with a genetic counselor and basically she told us that we were sent to there only because of our age! So, she proceeded to go over our afp blood test results and everything looked perfect. the risk for ds based on my blood test was 1 in 649 which is super!!! She said that based on my blood work that it looked like i was a 24 year old woman!!! how great is that. so obviously we opted not to have the amnio done.... then we went in for the level 2 u/s scan to do all the measurements... they measured everything from head to toe!!! they did find that there is a cyst in the umbilical cord which may cause the baby to not get enough nutrients and what not ... and they are going to monitor me every 3-4 weeks because if it gets larger they may have to do an amnio to see if the lungs are developed enough and may end up in a scheduled c-section. the doctor was super and very informative... she said that the cyst can be similar to a cord knot and but there is nothing to be alarmed at right now. so i have another appointment on april 10th for another level 2 scan... kay, i'm thinking that you probably have these done too right? because of the cord knot? anywho.... the baby is just shy of 2 pounds right now and i am measuring a week earlier than they had originally thought which puts me at an edd of june 29! so dh took the kids out to target and told me that today i just get to rest and stay off of my feet! so that makes me happy. yesterday i went with my MIL and picked out my crib and dresser.... i looked at babies r us and then target and i'm gonna get the cherry wood simplicity ellis 4 in 1 crib and matching dresser. i haven't decided on any bedding yet... although i know i want to do something with froggies and monkeys! oh and when we were at target yesterday i got the boppy pregnancy pillow and it is fabulous!!! omg it is heaven and it is so cute... looks just like the boppy for babies but it's huge! so all of you chatty girls yesterday had me all jealous.... i wanna see and send pictures... so i'm gonna input all of your email addresses into my address book on my computer and send you all pictures ok..... here's my email too..... h1l1kus at mac dot com

Ok I'm on bedrest for at least the next 2 weeks. I went in because I was having braxton hicks contraction right on top of each other and they were starting to feel a little crampy. They hooked me up to the monitors for his heartbeat and contractions. I was thinking to myself on the way over, watch the contractions will stop as soon as I got there but they kept coming. My cervix wasn't dialating thankfully but they gave me a shot of terbutaline (sp?) to help stop them. It worked for about an hour and a haf then they starting coming back, just not as much. They did some sort of test (can't think of the name) that took a v____al swab and if it comes back negative it means you WONT go into labor in the next 2 weeks......if it comes back positive there's about a 40% chance you could. Mine came back positive. I got a steroid shot in my b___t to help develop his lungs incase he's born early and I have to go in tomorrow to get another one. She also put me on a medication that is supposed to help with the contractions that I have to take twice a day. I have the next two weeks off from work and she told to get off my feet, sleep, and drink lots of water. Basically I'm only getting out of bed to go to the bathroom, shower, and eat.....what fun. I bought a bunch of microwavable food when I was waiting for my prescription. I tried calling my boss' cell phone but she didn't answer so she'll get a nice surprise voicemail in the morning. I guess I'll try to look at it in a positive way because I really needed a d__n break and maybe now they'll take me more seriously about delivering my baby at term. I've got my ultrasound monday and I'll also be having an NST now too.

OMG Kay!!! Take it easy for the next couple of weeks and don't do anything you don't absolutely have to. I'm going to visit one of my friends today who's been on bedrest for the past couple of weeks because she started having non-stop contractions and her cervix has started to soften -thankfully no baby yet, but she also had the steroid injections just to be on the safe side. Since she' s been on bedrest, although completely bored, the contractions have stopped and everything seems to be going fine. Keep us posted! Do you have a laptop to use in bed?;)
Disko, I'm so happy for your news -that's great! What a relief:) and Dawn, your neighbours sound like they should be on jerry springer....maybe you should start keeping some kind of journal so years from now you can write a book -or at least tell your girls about the trials you went through!

Well my stomach is still tightening but not as bad. I guess the best way to describe it is last night it would start to tighten then clench up......now it just tightens and releases without becoming as intense. I think I was still kinda jittery from the terbutaline they gave me last night. My knees were shaking when I got to my car and when I got home I was exhauseted but couldn't fall alseep. I got a few hours then hubby got home around 530 and I've been up talking his ear off and just the most hyperactive, animated little thing for somebody laying in bed. I do have a laptop so I can prop up and use it and then we have a tv in our room too so I get the feeling I'm gonna be running the cable bill up this month renting movies on on demand. I have to find a pharmacy where I can fill the prescription for that steriod shot because we don't carry it at walgreens. I know I'm going to be driving myself crazy being bored. I feel guilty going to the bathroom or getting up to pop something in the microwave real quick. I sat on the bathroom countertop to wash my face and brush my teeth lol I find comfort in the fact that even if I had him now I'm at the point he'd be ok after spending some time in the NICU but obviously I'd rather wait as long as I can. I think I'm gonna go look up some info on that test they did to determine labor.

Thta's what my friend said happened to her for the first couple of days after she left the hospital....she still had some kind of contractions or something, but they enver progressed, and finally just stopped. No wonder your legs were jittery!!! Did you drive yourself home after all of that?! Well at least you've got the laptop and tv in your room to entertain you. I'm sure you'll be super bored, but once he's born, you'll be so happy that you won't even think about these next 2 weeks:) Yeah, I'd be interested in hearing about that test they did...I've never heard of it before. Maybe they check for levels of oxytocin (I think that's the hormone that's secreted when contractions begin and someone's going into labour?). It's been awhile since I've done any biology;) Let us know what you find out about that. I can't remember if you already said, but was your daughter born early?

It tests for a breakdown of membranes.....I think it's a certain protien that is secreted into the v____a. It's normal to have that protien in the first trimester and early second trimester, but it usually doesn't come back till 1-3 weeks before you go into labor. Apparently having s_x can throw the results off because of something in the s____n so it's possible I had some leftover spermies in there LOL but I think it had been long enough but who knows, maybe dh has super sperm. I also didn't have those contractions either and they've been pretty persistant still so I don't think that's the case. Still, it's some hope to hold on to.

Oh and I did drive home which they said was ok. They said I'd be a little jittery, but just feel like I had had way way too much coffee. My sister was with my daughter in the waiting room and I didn't wanna leave my car out there all night......they hospital is AWESOME but it's in a really bad area in Flint.

Hi everyone. Kay sorry that you had to go through that. As long as you follow doctors orders though and stay off your feet I'm sure everything will be fine. And yes it is the oxytocin levels that they were testing for. Oxytocin is released when you go into labor, it helps to soften the cervix, and it is also found in sperm in very small amounts. That is why they tell you to have lots of s_x around the due date because it will help to release the oxytocin and soften the cervix for delivery. But in the later stages of the second tri and early of the third, there isn't enough oxytocin in sperm to soften the cervix yet. I learned about this about 2 months ago in one of my nursing cla__ses. So I woke up to a bad start. I came downstairs and Tank, my rottie, had chewed up my last 5 dollars adn then threw it up in the middle of the floor. And last night my other dog threw up on my couch so my whole house stinks like vomit. I can't stand it, I think I may just throw the couch out and get a new one. It's the worst smell ever. I'm about ready to give these dogs away. I couldn't really do that, I'm too attached to them but still, they are making my life tons more difficult than it has to be, and when the baby comes, I'm gonna lock their a__ses up in the kitchen. Ok enough of my b___hing. I have a headache and have to get ready for work. I'll be back later on tonight, Kay try to keep your spirits up. Oh and Eastcoast I'm not sure if I sent those pics right, I'm kinda retarted with computers.

hello all my preggo girlfriends.... oh wow kay i'm sorry you had to go through all that... 2 weeks of bedrest for you now, huh? well like you said at least you will get the much needed rest that you obviously needed. just take care of yourself and lay in bed, watch tv, talk to us, sleep and eat! my prayers are with you. Hi Marisol... i tried to send you some pictures but i got the email back saying it was an incorrect email address so maybe if you send me an email i can then just resend them. my email is h1l1kus at mac dot com. oh and Heather ... i did get your pictures and you are gorgeous!!! i love your long beautiful hair and your belly bump is adorable. Your daughter, Rachel, is such a doll. what a cutie patootie! hey Gabby... i got all of your pictures too! you look exactly how i pictured you in my head! you and fred are just way too cute... you are the most adorable pregger girl! and your dogs are huge! lol so i had to keep taylor home from school again today and i am getting ready to take her to the doctors office. her bf has pneumonia and bronchitis and she was kissing him last saturday and now she has been feeling ill. like she has got a sore throat, sinus pressure, headache and is extremely exhausted. she has her first choir performance tonight and two shows tomorrow so i thought i had better get her in to see the doc before it gets any worse. i don't think she has pneumonia or bronchitis because she hasn't had a fever or any coughing or any breathing problems but with these choir performances then spring break then she has the disneyland trip with choir... i'm afraid she will run herself down and just get worse. so better to be safe than sorry. this morning i woke up with a slight sore throat and a sinus headache so i hope it doesn't get any worse and spread to the entire family! yikes. what terrible timing. okay.. well i've got to go take her now so i'll check back in when i get home. ttyl

I'm so sorry Kay that you're stuck on bed rest! It's hard to just sit around and do nothing. With my dd I had to spend 5 days on the couch because of bleeding and it was miserable! I thought I was going to go out of my mind with boredom. Hope everything stays put for you though! Keep that LO in there! Gabby, I could not get your pictures to open at all and Ma, your email bounced back to me. :( Thanks for the compliments on the photos - I feel nothing close to beautiful at the moment. I miss my skinny body and thinner face. :) Everything is round and puffy - even my shoes are feeling tighter. I love Zicam too - but you have to take it at the beginning of your illness for it to really work. You could also take zinc - it's the same thing. My cousin is a pharmacist - not the ones you see in the drugstores, but works at a hospital in Oncology, and says that you might as well save some money and take a zinc losenge. I still buy zicam though - I think it's a mental thing. :) I'm so tired!!! I can't sleep at night and then I have this low iron stuff - and I just ate a huge lunch at the Olive Garden. All you can eat soup/salad/breadsticks - and I ATE!! yummy!!! I also ate two ding dongs last night! I don't even want to know how much fat is in those things. I keep telling myself I'm going to watch what I eat this time but then all of a sudden I go on these binges where I want everything bad for me. :) It's so hard to say no to your cravings!!! Oh, for your sore throats -try the saltwater gargle - or, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in water and drink it. It's nasty, but it kills germs. It helped me with my sore throat a couple of weeks ago - wasn't anywhere near as bad as my dh's - lasted only a day or two while his lasted over a week. :)
