so i guess i just need to be reassured!! i have done this to friends bellies and now that i am 17weeks pregnant with twins i feel movements and when i press firmly but not too hard i feel body parts and my husband freaks telling me im gonna hurt them. i tell him when i have ultrasounds they press much harder and longer. they are well protected in there, right? now im second guessing myself.

Hi Hope and Congrats on the twins!! I am 24wk4d pregnant with twins and I poke them all the time! I've heard that they think its a game, which is why they usually respond by kicking back. Their body parts are all really jello-like at this stage - at my last ultrasound one of the twins pushed into the other one's head and her head just indented a bit and then went back to normal shape! As long as you aren't using extreme pressure (if it hurts you stomach you're probably pressing too hard), i'm sure they're fine. And in a few weeks they will be so active you won't even be able to rest your arm on your tummy without them kicking back :)
Good luck on the rest of your pregnancy!
