Hi Jlecabwit, I have never had a spinal, but I have had two epidurals and suffered no side affects at all; including any back pains and that over twelve years ago. It also didn't hurt (mind you I was having contractions both times so maybe it just hurt so little compared to them!) It doesn't happen to everyone.

Quick hello to all. Cdnbrd. I am also Canadian. :) Welcome. I am now in my 17th week. All seems well. HAve the next ultrasound soon. Debating about finding out the s_x. I am just hoping I have continued good health with this baby. How is everyone else doing?

Great news JMP! I am very happy for you. Hi Kristin, is this your first? With my first two, I didn't want to find out either, but curiosity got the best of me...with this one I will wait until the results of the amnio, which I am having next Tuesday (Sooooo nervous). Wishing everyone the best!

Good News JMP! Cndbird, this is my second. I also have a 2y 4month year old. Actually, I kind of want to know the s_x..but do not want to tell people ;) My dh is wanting a boy so bad and wants to name it after his father. (George) never liked the name. So I am ofcourse hoping for a healthy child but if it's a girl I won't have to worry about the debate about the baby naming. I also won't have to buy any boy stuff as I have a little girl with a ton of clothing. Cndbird, Why did you opt for the amnio? You may have mentioned this before but I was away for a bit. How far along are you also? Anyway, would love to hear more updates. Especially the ladies who popped in early on but have not heard form them again. :)

Actually I just back read Cndbird. So you did not do the NT. I have never had an amnio..would have if my doc thought there was any reason. I however had a low NT and my bloodwork was really good. So unless my maternal serum and AFP give me any reason.. I see no reason. I wish you best of luck. I wouldn't worry too much about mc either as the incidence is VERY low. Take care :)

Thanks for the rea__surance Kristin. My first boy is also named after my husband's father...hated the name, but we stuck with tradition...you get used to it! My sister-in-law gave me a lot of her daughter's little sleepers and undershirts when my boys were little and I admit they sometimes wore pink sleepers around the house on laundry day...lol. I am almost 15 weeks and feeling a little better about the amnio, as I am now going to get the results from a private clinic in my city. They provide the full results in 7-12 days; a lot less than the 3 to 5 weeks that the hospital offers (although I will still do the initial fluid withdrawal at the hospital). The hospital results would be free and we will have to pay for the clinic, but I am very nervous so I think it is worth it. All the best, would love to hear from everyone.

Hey guys, I had my last dr appt. on Friday and we heard the heart beat on the doppler..even though that was only 5 days ago I just still can't help wondering if everything is okay or if I'm going to miscarry..I know I'm 14 weeks and 5 days but I'm just so scared..sometimes I feel like things in my stomach but I'm not sure if the rumbles are gas, cramps the baby? I've had them now for the past 3 days..there not painful I just feel things..lol I know it sounds crazy I mean maybe I'm just way to in tune to how my body is feeling because I'm pregnant lol..I haven't had any spotting or anything and I heard the heart beat 5 days ago and still I just can't get this nervous feeling out of my head..this is my first baby and I'm just wondering if it's normal to be this nervous! I know it's not good for the baby to be so stressed so I'm always trying to stay happy and tell myself everything is fine but I just can't help but be afraid something is going to go wrong constantly! I even ordered the fetal doppler! LOL..any feedback, I really just want to ease my mind because I really think I'm going nuts!

Hi JMP, Hearing the heartbeat is great news! And so is feeling things in your stomach. I am barely 15 weeks myself and feel flutters in my stomach that I KNOW are the baby - but the only reason that I only know is because I've had two other babies. The best way to describe it is like a twitch in your eye that is in your stomach; or kind of like you when you get b___terflies when you are nervous. Do you feel it more after you eat? I feel it every now and then throughout the day, but mostly first think in the morning when I am having breakfast or if I lie down on my left side after eating. I am also having other things moving about, like gas (sooo much gas...!) and slight pains that are my uterus stretching. From your previous posts, your tests have all come back great, so you don't have reason to worry. You will probably feel much better after you get the doppler. I wish you the best!

Hi JMP, It is only normal to worry if things are ok. I have had a doppler since my baby was 9 weeks so KNOW that my baby is ok. I check the heartbeat about once a day. It is defintetly worth it's money with the rea__surance it gives you. I have had 5 losses. One which was at 14 weeks so I don't think I will ever stop worrying everything is ok in a pregnancy. So far so good for me too!! I am feeling many more flutters now. I am now 17w1d. Talk to you all soon!!

JMP - April 6

15 weeks today! I love my dopppler, and I feel so much happier with it! I really feel much more secure in my pregnancy now which is great..I've just been walking around super happy and excited! Thanks guys for your support for crazy me lol! I was just wondering though..my belly does seem to be growing but it doesnt feel hard is this normal? lol I try to lay down and feel my uterus but I don't feel anything! Should it be hard by now?

Kristin72 - April 6

JMP, The stomach is probably not that hard right now. The size of your baby is only about 4 inches..and the uterus just pushes our stomachs out. I guess it kind of depends on how much padding you have. But the average women unless she has very little body fat will not feel a hard uterus. As you grow and things expand your stomach will defintely feel harder. So enjoy this stage now where your skin is not stretched out and your uterus is still small enough where it is padded by your tummy. Glad to hear you are feeling better about the baby with your new doppler. I think it is a great gadget.

Thanks Kristin, I'm actually starting to believe that this is going to be a healthy and wonderful pregnancy! can't wait =)

Cndbird, Did you have your amnio? I hope all went well. Let us know how things are going for you. Today I am 17w4d. I have an appointment next Weds with my OB then I will be set up with my 2nd trimester screening etc. Hoping all is well. The heartbeat for the baby is still hovering around 154. Talk to you all soon!!

JMP - April 8

Hi Kristin! Today I'm 15w4d and have an OB appt. on the 24th and second level sonogram May 8th..The heartbeat for my baby is 154-160 seriously! LOL the old wives tale says that if the heartbeat is over 140 it's a girl! I'm really hoping for a boy, but when my BF talks of having a daughter it's the sweetest most loving thing ever and I'm really not sure if I'd rather have a boy anymore! I know I'm going to be so very happy no matter what =)

Cdnbrd - April 10

Hi all! Glad to hear that you feel better now that you have the doppler JMP. You sound so much happier and relaxed, great to hear! Yes Kristin, I had my amnio on Tuesday. It was quite uncomfortable (more than I thought it would be) and I had some cramping after and on Wednesday, which scared me. Things seem to have settled down today. At least it is over with and I have some comfort knowing that I am now waiting for a result instead of the test. Of course, I am still nervous about the possibility of miscarriage as a result of the amnio, but again, I will know within two weeks so at least my worrying has an end date now! I was reading the previous posts and saw that you have had 5 previous losses Kristin, that must have been very hard; I am so glad to hear that this pregnancy is going well! Wishing everyone the best!
