Hi all! Glad to hear that you feel better now that you have the doppler JMP. You sound so much happier and relaxed, great to hear! Yes Kristin, I had my amnio on Tuesday. It was quite uncomfortable (more than I thought it would be) and I had some cramping after and on Wednesday, which scared me. Things seem to have settled down today. At least it is over with and I have some comfort knowing that I am now waiting for a result instead of the test. Of course, I am still nervous about the possibility of miscarriage as a result of the amnio, but again, I will know within two weeks so at least my worrying has an end date now! I was reading the previous posts and saw that you have had 5 previous losses Kristin, that must have been very hard; I am so glad to hear that this pregnancy is going well! Wishing everyone the best!

Hi all - Would love to join in.. Am 15 weeks this week, and so happy to be done with the first tri. Had the downs screening at 12 wks, and that came back with very very low risk, so they recommended to just do another detailed u/s at 18 wks and see. But generally, he said, nothing to worry about. There is another blood test I need to do next week at 16 wks, and I a__sume that is part of the downs screening - not sure. Can't wait for the 18 week u/s to see the baby again. It was so special to see the baby and hear the h/b at the 12 wk.. I just cried, could not control it, surprised myself and dh! :) We'd been so waiting for that since last few years of m/c's and disappointments. I think if I could hear the h/b all the time, I would be emo constantly!! I am so glad to see everyone's screenings are going on track.

I'm new here but pleased to read all the other comments from everyone. I am 42 and my husband is 50. We're expecting a surprise baby, due August 22. We just had our 20 week scan last week. This is my 4th biological child, but our last was 13 years ago, and my first was born 22 years ago! Seeing that little girl (our first bio daughter) on the scan was especially moving this time. I am high risk in more ways than one, having had life-threatening preeclampsia last time that caused me to lose my eye-sight for a week afterwards. We are trusting God and are grateful for specialists who are monitoring everything. Most of all, I'm thrilled at the chance to be a mother again at nearly 43. It's still the best job in all the world.

Gender report! It's a GIRL. I have 2.5 year old little girl now. I have been predicting girl on this one - strongly. Of course, since we had a girl there was a lot of family predictors of boy "this time". We are thrilled - she measured on track, was moving like crazy, had a hb of 155.

Welcome Motheragain42!! What a great story..Very happy for you!! I everything stays on track for you!!! Trying congratulations on the little girl!!!!How have you been feeling? How was your scan? I have a doc app tomorrow then my ultrasound has to be booked!! Glad to hear all is well with everyone!!

Hi all! Great to see so many updates and new mothers-to-be! Motheragain42, my last was 12 years ago, so I know how you feel! I am worried I have forgotten everything, lol. From your history, I understand your concern; I think as we get older we appreciate just a little bit more how much of a miracle a healthy child is. Kristin, how was your appointment today? Did you get a date for your ultrasound? Will you find out the s_x? My doctor guessed at the s_x during my last appointment based on the heartrate...not sure if that is an old wives tale or not! Bumblebee, great to hear that your pregnancy is going well. I got very emotional during my ultrasound as well. Everytime I get to hear the heartbeat is just tears me up! I am still anxiously awaiting the results of the amnio, but am feeling much better. I really hope they call soon. I have still not told most people at work and I am really starting to show, I am sure they are whispering about how much weight I've gained! Hoping to hear everyone's updates!

Hi guys! 16 weeks now and just so excited about my growing belly it's so adorable! Everyone keeps asking me if I've felt the baby yet and honestly this is my first and I just don't know what I'm looking for! I've been so ga__sy and bloated through out this entire pregnancy that sometimes I think maybe it's the baby but then I think it's probably gas..lol. I have my 20 week scheduled for May 8th and I just can't wait to find out if there's a little girl or a little boy in my belly! We're hoping for the boy like I've said but I don't think we'd mind much either way (I think he kinda wants a girl! lol) A little bit before my 16th week I could really feel my belly expanding. I was so nervous I thought something was wrong but was rea__sured that it was a good thing, it's just the baby growing! It's pretty amazing to feel my body stretching pregnancy definetly takes a toll on the body! I just had my 16 week blood test for downs yesterday so that was exciting I hope all is well! Anyway just wanted to say hi to everyone hope everyone is doing/feeling well!!

Hi everybody. It's been about a month since I posted. I just got back from my level 2 ultrasound at the perinatalogist. It was a teeny bit early, I'm 17w6d and will need to go back again in 4 weeks so they can make sure everything is still OK... BUT...everything is so far so good! No markers for downs, everything measures in the normal range... and, IT'S A GIRL! He is still interested in getting the results of the 2nd part of my blood screening -- which I'll have drawn today, and like I said, they want to measure everything again in a month. I'm just SO relieved that everything appears normal. I'll take a "so far, so good" any day! This Saturday, I have a date with my mom and the Carter's outlet...I'm sure will get lots of frilly pink stuff to celebrate! Hope everybody is getting along great!

Cdnbrd - April 16

Hi All! I am still at work, but just got my amnio results and am so excited I had to share!! Everything came back normal!!! I feel like I can finally relax and enjoy my pregnancy! We had found out the s_x during the ultrasound before the amnio, but I hesitated mentioning it - but I am happy to say we are having a girl! My doctor had told me it was a boy based on the heart rate, but nope, amnio confirmed that he is a she. Wishing everyone the best!

JMP - April 16

Cdnbrd- WOW a girl! congratulations!! I'm so happy that everything is wonderful for you, that's great! Sit back and enjoy now right? lol Congratulations again !! =)

Kristin72 - April 16

Wow!!!!Great news on the baby girls flroses and Cdnbrd!!!! Ver happy for you both! I too had my maternal serum, ultrasound, and 4 week check up. Everything seems great. The tech suggested a low lying placenta...but said it could improve as baby gets larger and pushes the placenta up. In the meantime..until I speak to my OB again I will a__sume all is well :) I chose not to find out the s_x..but am curious to know now that everyone is finding out the s_x. Again, congratulations on the great results and ultrasounds!! Let's enjoy our pregnancies :) Here's hoping we all have continued health and happiness! JMP can't wait to hear your results too!! To all the other ladies..update when you can!!!!

Cdnbrd - April 20

Thank you for the congrats! We finally told all the family (both sets of parents live far away so were not around to witness my growing belly!). My mom is soooo excited that she will finally get her granddaughter! Went shopping for maternity clothes yesterday. The price of maternity wear has certainly gone up since my last pregnancy. But so many cute things...! Kristin, great news on your appointments and ultrasound. I have never heard of a low lying placenta, is that a concern? All else was good, so I wouldn't worry, like the tech set it will probably move up as the little bean grows. So you didn't find out the s_x...we had a big debate about that at my office the other day and most of the girls said they woudn't want to know before hand either. I wanted to ask you; I know you said you are from Canada, did you buy your fetal monitor from a chain store? I am thinking about getting one so my boys can hear the heartbeat too, but I don't know where to buy one. I don't want to invade your privacy about where you live, if you bought it at a local store I won't be at all offended if you just say that. JMP - any updates? Have you felt the baby move yet? I see you want to find out the s_x during your ultrasound - there are a lot of girls going around on this forum, I am curious to see if you will break the trend! Is anyone else very emotional? I watched the news yesterday and must have gotten all teary eyed at least three times... there is also that McDonalds commercial where the father and daughter are eating after hockey practice and she asks her dad if he ever wished she had been a boy... silly, but it gets me every time! Love to hear everyone's updates!

JMP - April 20

Hi guys! i just got a call from the genetic counselor about our screening (they do the ultrasound and blood at 12 weeks and again at 16 weeks) and we screened negative! Which was very exciting! This is my 17th week and I'm just so excited that my belly is so big! LOL I'm so tiny that the baby really didn't have anywhere to go! May 8th we will find out the s_x I can't wait! I'm so busy all the time that I've probably felt the baby move but haven't noticed (plus I'm so ga__sy! I really don't know what to look for and every time I think it's the baby moving I realize it's just gas! ha) AS for emotional wow watch out lol I had a crazy day yesterday! The thought of becoming a mom really set in and I was just so scared I took it out on my poor BF and said really mean things to him lol I'm so lucky he loves me so much and just understands I'm pregnant and emotional! I feel like there is so much pressure on me..we didn't plan this pregnancy and I'm still a full time student and work part time. My BF is much older (about 12 years) and has the house, cars and career. So I'm still in school while I'm pregnant and sometimes I'm just so tired I get so emotional lol but I know that I'm truly happy over this little miracle I can't wait!

Bumblebee - April 20

Hi all - sorry, i just don't seem to get on here as much. JMP - Looks like we are just about a few days apart. I go in for my 16 wk blook work today. And have been very ga__sy and get acidity, etc.. All the great discomforts.. and all good as long as the baby is fine. :) Congrats on all the babygirls in this forum. Dh also would like that, but we will find out on May 4th u/s. Can't wait for the u/s to hear and see it again. Yesterday and today, I could not feel much movement or hunger, and so am getting a lil nervous, but I do hear that is normal - the fluctuations. Anyway, I did feel what may be "quickening" in my low belly a few times. First thought it was gas, but then it felt very different and realized it was prob'ly some movements? All so exciting. JMP, and others at about 16 -17 weeks, do you go thru days like that where you don't feel much movement in belly or less hunger?? Just curious. Take care all..

JMP - April 20

I really haven't felt any movements or at least I don't think so I'm so ga__sy and I can't tell the difference LOL OMG I am never not hungry lol I'm so hungry 24/7!! LOL I love to eat!
