Having the sugar test next week. What do they do at that visit? I will be 27 weeks.

I just had mine last week, you have to drink a drink, it tastes like orange pop, but it is pretty much liquid sugar, then you have to wait an hour, and they will take some blood. It is not bad, just really boring sitting there for an hour.

I have to take it tomorrow. Don't drink anything after midnight and then at the appt they draw blood. Then they make you drink a small bottle of sugar water. The one I am having is orange flavored. I was told it taste like a very sweet non carbonated drink. After drinking it they wait an hour and draw blood again. Some doctors want to test two more times so get used to drinking the beverage and plan on being there all day! (4 hours) Other than that it's a breeze!

it's to check for gestational diabetes. the drink isn't that bad. it's not something i look forward to, but it's not unbearable. bring a book. :o)

i am 21 weeks and my doctor told me that for my next visit i will be doing that test and i can either drink thier stuff OR drink about 20 ounces of pepsi about 30 mins before i come in
