I'm sorry if this is too much info, but I would really like someone's advice/opinion. Every so often, and if I remember correctly, it is always right after I go to the washroom, I notice my underwear is damp, sometimes to the point of having to go change them. The fluid, whatever it is, is definitely clear, and I don't seem to notice a smell. Now, as I said, it doesn't happen all the time, maybe like 5 times so far.....and I am 16 1/2 weeks. Could this be aminiotic fluid? Ah! Please help!

Most likely it is urine, or watery discharge. However, if you are concerned then you should call the nurse at your OB's office for peace of mind. They can look at it under microscope to look for ferning, which would indicate that it was amniotic fluid. Like I said though, It probably isn't anything to worry about. When you are pregnant all kinds of icky things happen to your body and leaking urine and an abundance of discharge are just a couple of them. Definitely call if you are worried.

Hi Margo, I have a similar post about leaking fluid on here too, i found out at 18 wks that i had lost some of my fluid, they dont know how, but one way is it leaking slowly from a small rupture in the sack - which you can only notice if you have regular wetness in the knickers - i hadnt noticed because i live somewhere very hot and my undies are allways damp (sorry tmi) but you know how hard it is to stay cool when your pregnant. My advice to you would be, dont panic but go straight away and get it checked out, they can see on an ultrasound if your fluid is a lot lower than last time or if you havent had a scan yet they will measure it to see if its low. Mine is measuring 10cm at the moment which is low but not critical (5cm or below is critical). Also just a precaution i would start doubling the amount of water you drink as this can help to keep your levels topped up. If you have an active lifestyle, try to tone it down until you get a scan and if it says everythings fine then you can get straight back into it!! They told me to have bedrest and drink a lot of water. Im going through 2-3 gallons a day, no joke. Its not easy but worth doing if it keeps the levels above critical. Having said all this, it might just be discharge or just you being warm so go and get it checked out so you can put your mind at rest. Im not telling you this to worry you, just so you can be aware of it - as if it is low fluid, the sooner you do something about it the more fluid you can retain. Im hoping its nothing and please post again to let me know!! x x

It is always good to get things you're unsure about looked at. when I was in my 2nd trimester with my daughter I noticed a lot of that starting from week fourteen. I was concerned, but it turns out it was just a lot of watery discharge and some urine.
