When To Buy Maternity Clothes

I am 9 weeks and have a pooch. This is my first, so I am quite surprised. I know that once I get a little bigger, I'll have to wear those comfy maternity pants. In fact, I can't wait. The waist bands on what I'm wearing now are NOT comfortable. I also feel huge in my b___t and thighs. I had a freak-out earlier today, because I know I am watching what I am eating and exercising 5-6 times a week. I feel like the weight gain is out of control. I was kind of down. I just feel super-fat! Anyway-purchased all of my clothes on eBay and at consignment stores. I have practically my entire wardrobe and have spent about $100. It's the way to go since you'll only be wearing it for 5-6 months. Also, I won't feel very guilty if I grow out of them half-way through. Good luck!!

with my first i started needing a bigger size at 13weeks but felt that maturnity clothes were just to tent like as i didnt fill them out properly, so i just bought stretchy items in a bigger size this helped untill i could wear the maturnity things i had the. same was true with my second, i am now expacting my third, i am 11 weeks but still fit in my own clothes although the feeling of things around my tummy is getting a bit uncomfortable the main thing is comfort so just shop around and see what you feel good in!

I am 9 1/2 weeks and started wearing maternity clothes at 8 weeks. I have gained 4lbs. but my stomach has popped out so much that none of my jeans were fitting me. Everyone I run into keeps asking me if I am having twins becasue I am "showing" already. Each persons body is different. I say don't waste the money on in-between clothes. Buy the maternity clothes and be comfortable. Motherhood store has awsome clothes and aren't really expensive. Good Luck!!!

Im 17 weeks and ive gained about 7 lbs but my regular jeans are not doing up anymore.I wore a 7/8 jeans today by holding it up with a belt. I found that Old navy do good ultra ultra low riders in jeans that fit just under the bump and glory be I can still fit into a 10 comfortablly! They are only 24.99..I dont see that Im going to spend 100's for 5 months of wearing.

I am now 18 weeks and fill out my maternity clothes. This is my first pregnancy and my belly popped really early. I have been in maternity clothes since I was 13 or 14 weeks. You should buy them when you feel uncomfortable in your regular clothes. I bought all of my clothes at jcpenny.com, old navy maternity, and motherhood. they all have great prices!!

A friend of mine gave me some great advice on this... for the time that you are "in-between", you're too big for your normal clothes & not quite showing enough for maternity clothes, buy regular clothes in a larger size. She did this & said it was the smartest thing she did because after the baby, she needed some bigger clothes while she lost the weight.

Finally realizing that I can't stuff into my regular clothes anymore this weekend... I decided to go an buy some maternity clothes at (what I a__sume who be) the cheepest place... Tarja (bka Target). The clothes were so expensive. 1 ugly pants were $24 and the shirts were aweful. Finally I decided to buy a lot of regular shirts, at extra large, which look way better... It's sad how expensive maternity clothes are... they are cheeper online, but when you have to pay shipping and handling... it's about the same. Does anyone know where I can get decent looking, inexpensive maternity clothes in Southern California?... Thanks..

Phoebe have you tried Old Navy online, they have great bargain items and no matter how much you buy the shipping at handling is a $5 flat fee.

Cool! Thanks Beth... I will go check them out now... or else I will be running around bottomless in a few more days...

Buing maternity clothes sucks! It is so expensive! I do suggest buying a good pair of jeans. I bought ones with the band and have been wearing then sinse about 12 weeks. You cannot even tell they are maternity, and I got so many compliments on them. I paid a lot $60 Cdn at Thyme, but I wear them like 3 times a week, so I am getting my $ out of them.

i am wearing maternity clothes, they just feel better. i think it is really important for preganant women to look and feel good. hell, we are dealing with enough c___p going on, that we should be able to feel pretty and comfy when we are not puking, belching, etc...:D I scan thrift stores and discount stores for mine. noone really ever "wears out" maternity clothes so they are in good condition most of the time. I have however, had issue with these new maternity pants that have the elastic waist. It bends and folds over and just sucks. I miss my maternity "panel" jeans!!! Anyhow, GL with the clothes hunting!

try H&M they have good pricing and the thing I love most is they are really trendy looking not "maternity" looking. Good luck.

I LOVE Old Navy. You can get there clothes online and if you don't like them you can return them in the store. And shipping is only $5
