geez...i sure opened up a can of worms. i really just wanted some opinions on the subject, maybe some personal experiences. i can take it if someone tells me something i dont necessarily want to hear. dont fight on my account. but if we could get back to the original point of the thread, i would enjoy more conversation on this subject.

Christi, if you have been in this place before you will know that the girls here love to pick a fight! About your wish, I would like to see a link where your question gets answered, I am bit heavy, too and if they are scaring me about tests being affected by my weight I would love to know where they are getting this information from.

Christi... i have read a similar thread about hcg level in the past with overweight ladies, and it was answered that hcg levels CAN take longer to show in overweight women... in fact they can take forever to show in other cases too... Sugar pie did not say EVERY OVERWIEGHT WOMAN will have low hcg levels, just that it is something that can happen. And Mary, i am slim but my last pregnancy which only lasted 11 weeks only showed a FAINT line five days after my af was due... so your 3 days before is pretty unusual... or just because yours showed up early is everyone elses meant to to? Are you the yardstick ALL women are meant to measure by??? And on my recent trip to get blood sucked the lady doing the blood taking had a laugh about how some women come in 4-5 months pregnant and showing but have never had positive preg test show up... it is unusual, unexplained, but does happen in some cases... and as for obgyn being reliable sources... they are only people and some of them haven't updated their knowledge base since they got their qualifications... in this day and age patients under the age of 60 are expected to do a bit of research themselves instead of spending 4 hours in the consulting room asking the doctor the 40 FAQ's

the yardstick, roflol lmafo!!!!!! sorry that made me laugh!

Angie... no one is trying to scare you, just letting you know that BFP's can take awhile to show up on preg tests ... and our imformation sources are "Secret Womens Business"... sorry it is an Aussie joke... :-)

me again...i went to the dr. today because i am tired of making myself crazy. i got a prescription for birth control since my periods are so irregular, but am still waiting for af to show up so i can start the pills! anyhoo, doc wanted to be sure i am not pg before i start the pill, but an ultrasound showed a very flat uterus. oh well. i am still waiting on blood results. point is, i asked her about the low levels of hcg thing & she told me that while it is not very common, it can take 3 - 5 months for a woman to test positive, if she ever does during her pregnancy. it just depends on the individual. Now listen, dont jump on me, i am not trying to state a fact...i am just trying to relay what a medical professional told me, hopefully it will help somebody down the line. baby dust to all! looks like i am out for a while. i'd rather just have a pd every month than drive myself nuts every month wondering if i am going to get a pd or if i am pg! besides, if it's meant to be, it will happen anyway. all of my siblings & myself were born despite my mother being on the pill.

Angie, - March 23

Did the doctor confirm that being overweight can cause you HCG levels to be low? Or that 3-5 month time frame is in general for al women. I still want to know if I should worry about the test being different because I am chunky. :) Thanks.

christi - March 24

angie, the dr. said hcg levels can be low for any size woman. she told me size didnt matter necessarily, but that some people just dont make enough hcg until much later in the pregnancy. this could be true whether you are big or small. but keep your chin up. you never know. btw, had a blood test yesterday & found out it's negative today. i am sure that's correct, so maybe next time for me. baby dust to all of you still in the waiting game!!!

I just found this tread and I am still confused ... I am overwheight and my test came back negative, does it mean it can still be positive? Many women here are saying that the test can be negative if I am overwheight - is there still hope for me? Please help!

Reading this thread just made me upset. I don't like when people say "if it's meant to be it'll happen", or "if it's meant to be, it'll be". That's bs to me. As if I should depend on some supernatural force to grant me things in life. Bulls***.

Anyway. The immaturity is this thread is ridiculous. It was a simple question that needed answers and it just went downhill. I believe every woman is different no matter what size they are. There have been moribly obese women who had healthy pregnancies, believe it or not. Every damn woman is different. To blunt you need to grow up. This woman came here for answers but wow. A bunch of children. Thanks a lot, Google. Just wanted to put my two cents in.
