Pregnancy Or Perimenopausal Changes

Hi,
I just turned 40... seeing signs of perimenopause... yikes!
So, the reason to why I am asking for advice....
I have 27-29 day cycles. We were intimate using the withdrawal method on day 7 and 8, my period was shorter than normal... on day 9 or 10 i got a yeast infection. Usually I am able to detect by my cm when I am ovulating, but bc of the yeast infection i was not.
I felt pretty yucky (nauseous) on day 15, and day 16 cramps began in the middle of the lower abdomen area. At one point it was a very intense cramp as when your af begins. I had to check my calendar 3 times to make sure that I was not off on my days - it felt like my af would begin any second!
Now it is day 18 and I still have cramps. I have lots of cm. I am not sure if that is bc the yeast infection is not completely gone yet... I did a opk yesterday evening checking to see if I had not yet ovulated, but it was negative.
Are the cramps early pregnancy signs - did I ovulate early? Or do I have cramps so early because I am perimenopausal and my cycles are changing, or is it something from the yeast infection?
Advise anyone?
Thanks.

These signs are too early to be from pregnancy starting this cycle. Your short period makezs me wonder if you got pregnant last cycle. A test now would tell. Use first morning pee. GL!

Thank you Grandpa Viv, I took a test this morning, day 22 and it was negative, so not pregnant from last cycle. I am still cramping, or it is more like a pressure in the middle of the lower abdomen. Today I had weird sensation inside the v____a. It was 6 years ago since I was pregnant last, so I can't remember the little things... I blew my nose last night and a little blood came our... well, my cycle is supposed to begin in 6 days, so we will see... still lots of cm... I am seeing other signs of perimenopause (the last 2 cycles), so it might just be that..

A yeast infection sometimes relates to a pregnancy, but this started too early in the cycle to believe that(pH changes allow organisms to flourish that are usually under control). Maybe perimenopause does the same thing. Lotion discharge is a pregnancy sign, and so are vascular changes that can result in a bleeding nose. How about more peeing, backache, b___st and nip signs, smell and appet_te changes. If it were not for the nausea and cramps I would lean toward perimenopause. Come back and let us know how the tests turn out.

Hi Grandpa Viv, I never had extra peeing with my pregnancy 6 years ago... I didn't feel anything in my b___sts until today, when they suddenly became very sensitive - which of course is on time for just regular af... my lower back was a little out of wack this morning, but that could be because my daughter took up most of the bed last night :~) My nose is a little stuffy, but the weather is really dry around here... I guess I have another 5-6 days before I will find out. The odd thing is this constant pressure on the lower abdomen and once in a while it will tug on the right hand side. But what I am realizing is that perimenopause will mess with your body...
I will let you know what happens though :)

oh, I should also mention that when I was pregnant 6 years ago - my emotions were so stable it was amazing! I was emotional late last week, but all of a sudden I have gone into zen mode... which is rare 5 days before af is supposed to arrive.

I should also add that I am craving super fatty foods. I just made a grilled cheese sandwich with chocolate chips... and seeing a McDonald's makes me drool. I don't even eat fast food and very fatty foods otherwise... I do enjoy my chocolate, but not fatty foods like this... well, i will wait another 5 days and if af is not here I will test again. The only change in my b___sts in my prior pregnancy was my nipples got bigger - my areolas stayed small and the same. My nipples now are darker (red) in color than I think they usually are... well, I think I am fishing for symptoms... Lower abdomen pressure has not been that intense today...

One of my friends recently got pregnant at forty, and a sister-in-law did the same thing a while back. I think they were both ttc while your exposure was minimal. Let's think of some signs not yet mentioned - vivid dreams, acne, dry skin, short of breath, heartburn, constipation or diarrhea, hot flashes, veins showing more on b___sts or flanks, Chadwick's sign - some of which may be AF related. Hope your Thanksgiving went well!

Thanks Grandpa Viv, Thank you :~) To be honest, today I feel "normal." Just heavy b___st (normal for af), super bloated - somewhat normal, and pretty much no pressure on my lower abdomen. I did have a lot of lotionlike discharge, and this insane appet_te. I did have total diarrhea the other day - which is rare, usually at this time in my cycle i'm a little constipated... But considering my age, and the exposure - I really doubt I am pregnant... I think it is more that I am getting older and my cycles are changing. Sadly enough. Good luck to your friend and s-i-l :~)

hi, well, I am not really talking to anyone about this, so I will use you guys as a sounding board :~) Day 28 came and went, no sign of af. The past two cycles I have had aura migraines the day before my af arrived (hormonal changes which I attributed to beginning stages of perimenopause)... I also have a little bit of a runny nose and lotion like discharge. Usually I am pretty dry at this time of my cycle. My lower back is also getting a little "loose", I should probably go for an adjustment soon. Otherwise everything is like my regular cycle: my appet_te was out of control, then yesterday the appet_te diminished, which it always does a few days before my af starts. I had a bout of chills on Saturday, which usually happens two days before my af (so today would have been the usual day of af arrival...) but there is always tomorrow. I keep thinking it is here, but most likely tomorrow. It is weird, I usually always know when I ovulate, at least within a day or so, so not noticing when i ovulated is a little annoying. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Ramble away! Are you going to test just to settle the issue? Buy a two pack and use them at one week intervals. All of the signs you give make one consider pregnancy, except for chills. "Hot flashes" are more often mentioned.

Hi Grandpa Viv, thanks for letting me ramble! I did give in yesterday and bought a few dollar ones at the dollar tree. So I took one this morning and it was negative. But it is only day 29. My usual cycles are 28-29 day cycles.... I hve gone all the way up to 34 in the past, but that has not happened in a very long time. Afternoon now, and still no af. If nothing by the weekend I will test again. Seriously, menopause can't just hit like this can it?
The chills i usually get before my period is me feeling really hot, but cold, as when you have a fever. So that is what i had on Saturday. Usually they happen in the mornings for my af, but so far I have not had that. If I did not ovulate this month, what happens with my af?
