im 17 and i found out around 5 weeks ago that im pregnant. i have been seeing the father of my baby since feb 2006 but we are no longer together we see each other weekly and i often stay at his place. when i told him that i was pregnant he was over the moon about it constantly rubbing my belly and making me feel completely comfortable that this baby is going tohave 2 people to take care of it. but 3 days ago he wrote me a letter telling me that he no longer wanted the baby and just telling me that were not together and he just wants to be friends. now i have spoken to him since i found the letter and he knows that i will be keeping the baby with or with out his help. he told me that he will still be there for me and this baby he will come to every ultrasound and will be there for me financially and we are still going to be close friends. which is good enough for me but my mother doesnt understand whay i want to keep this baby plz help me try and explain to her that things will be ok. and let me no what u would do if u were in my situation

Meagan--I'm 24, and I know when I was 17, there was NO WAY I was ready for a baby. You are taking in a lot of different emotions and you're still VERY young. I would be open to your ex's comments, but don't take them seriously (right now). Actions speak louder than words--my boyfriend now didn't accept the fact that he was going to be a daddy until the ultrasound (and that is at 20 weeks). You should try your hardest to have him go with you to that--it makes it more real for both of you. But I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK to you and KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. Always give him the option of going to appts, but know that a guy (especially young ones) are pretty selfish and take everything they say with a grain of salt. But do try to take my advice and have him go to the ultraound. Take care.
