My bf and I are thinking of having a baby. However, a month after I conviece I will have to return to my home country (personal reasons). I will be raising the child alone, but with my family as my support system. I have every intention to ensure my child knows his/her father, and where they came from (culturally).
Although I am certain to have this child I was wondering if there have been any other people who have had to deal with same/similar circ_mstances, and if they have any advice or wisdom to share on this topic. Thanks.

I just wanted to add that I am nearly 23, with much life experience. I have travelled both domestically and internationally. I have spent almost 3 years abroad. I am aware of what raising children entails, as I have studied and worked with children since I was 15. Please - if you have any advice, I would appreciate it.

I would advise you not to make this choice yet. Eventhough you may be 23 and well experienced. If there is anything you can do to prevent your child from not growing up with his/her father I would do so. Do not PLAN to have a child when you know you will not be a family. I am aware of that many women raise their children alone and make it perfectly fine, i am a single mother myself. But why do this to your child when you can wait a little longer (you still have plenty of time) and give your child and even better life. No disrespect intended. I just think when you can prevent single mothering you should.

Go with ur heart . . but do it for the right reasons. A baby, unfortunately will not keep a man in ur life. It is a hard decision to make - just do it for the right reasons. Everything happens for a reason. . . But I personally dont think you should force it.

Jamie - thanks for replying. I just wanted to let you know that I have made a decision - I have brought my ticket home, and I am not going to "plan" for the pregnancy. I am a firm believer in fate, and if it happens it was meant to be - if not . . .we will always have the future to make it! lol . . . Thanks again.
