My boyfriend didn't really even know his families medical history. What they're mainly concerned about is whether there were any birth defects, down syndrome, etc.

Yeah what Kay said, another important thing is finding out if the father has sickle cell trait because if you have the trait to there is a chance your child could be born with sickle cell disease. It's more prominent in African American people.

You should just call him and ask, hopefully there is a soft spot in him that will just give you the info you need to know.

Sorry about your bf...I know how it feels. Have you tried having the Dr call him? Maybe that will work. Let me know!

It seems as if he is determined to not be involved and thats sad. Unfortunately you will just have to move on without it. Just make sure that as soon as your little one comes you file for full custody and child support. And try to keep a record of his behavior, just in case he tries for joint custody.

I agree with the other rsponses. Some do not know their family history. If he isn't cooperating, have your doctor complete all required tests and any others that may be of concern for you. My baby's father hasn't gone to an appointment and hasn't shared any information. I simply chose to take all recommended test and pray that everything works out.
