My family is kicking me out of the house because I want to keep my baby. In order to survive on my own, I figure I will need to make about 600/wk. Right now that is reasonible, but when I get further along and once the baby comes I will not be able to work as much. Does anyone know of any government grants or assistant programs I could look at?

I'm very sorry your parents have made that decision. Maybe they will come around and give you the halp and supposrt you need. As far as a__sistance, where do you live because programs vary. I know in the states there is WIC, they provide some of the food you'll need to have a healthy pregnancy like milk, cheeses, eggs, juice, cereal and i believe they are starting to offer fruits and veggies to those who qualify which you probably will. Good luck and if I find any info on other programs i'll let u know. GOOD LUCK!

Sorry SLP to hear. Like Layla was saying, depending on where you live, theres WIC,Food Stamps, Medicaid and HUD where they help pay for a place.HUD is very strict though. The house must be spottless when they do their inspections which they even look at the outlets on the wall to make sure they work and are clean. My friend said they would take a white glove tto her house and thats something i wouldnt want to deal with, if they feel its not clean enough, then your in trouble! So i have the medicaid, and food stamps and going to get wic. Oh after the baby is born depending if you keep the babbies father a secret you may be able to get afdc which is money to purchase diapers, clothes etc. Good luck!

I went to the local health clinic and got medicaid today and they told me to come back on Monday and I would be able to get WIC. i don't know anything about HUD, but it seems unrealistic for them to think that a single-parent with an infant can keep her house *spotless*!!!

I agree, keeping a place clean is hard especilly if you have lots of toys, books/papers and furniture! Oh kids and a rug is hard to! Thats what my friend said anyways. But maybe it's different in each state? Well i am glad you are getting some help! :) I want off the a__sistance but until i finish school and work i need then. Take care!

You can also get Cash a__sistance and housing a__sistance.. which I'm not sure is the same as HUD. I think with HUD you don't have to be in low-income housing, but with housing a__sistance you do... but they pretty much pay for everything so it might be worth it. Some women even get cars. Just go to your county a__sistance office and talk to them. They can tell you everything that's available. I get WIC and medicaid, and I'm also on cash a__sistance right now while I'm going through school. One thing to know about cash a__sistance though, they will MAKE you go after child support.

I am very sorry!! Last Oct I took in a young lady that was pregnant, and about a month away from having the baby. She only had two prenatal check ups. To make a long story short, I helped her get on medicaid, she got signed up for housing, and etc. What state do you live in? Maybe I can help you through the process. The young lady has found a home, she has a beautiful baby girl, lucky very healthy.

Go to georgia.gov. This website will help answer some of the questions you have, and help you sign up for welfare. I live in KY, and every state is different. Here, you can get on medicaid(and/or pa__sport), draw a monthly check ( roughly $225.), get free housing, child care, help with education. And depending on your needs, there are several other different programs. Like I said, each state is different, however, this may give you a small idea of what you would get. Let me know if you need any more info, or just wanna talk. I am praying for you and your baby.
