I am a single woman in my 30's ttc with a sperm donor, using IUI. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and now am taking metforin and will be starting my 1st round of Clomid.
I always wanted the whole picture, happy husband, lots of children. However the husband has never materialized and I can not envision my life never having experienced the joys of motherhood. I am financially stable, and I am surrounded by a supportive and loving extended family.
I was only wondering, are there other women out there like me? Is anyone else choosing motherhood even though they are single?
The struggle with infertility has been an emotional one. As the time nears for me to begin a round of Clomid, I find myself nervous and second guessing my decision. However in talking to my sister-in-law, she said she felt the same uneasiness when she decided to become pregnant the “old fashioned way.”
I hope to sympathetic ear, as I am nervous and excited all at the same time!!! Is there anyone out there?

I can't say that I can relate to the whole infertility thing (I'm 31 weeks pregnant) but I just wanted to tell you to hang in there and I'm sure it will happen for you. I know how it is to want something so bad and than feeling really impatient. I have a son that's 5 (he was a surprise) but this pregnancy was planned and it felt like forever (it took over a year after I stopped bc). Sorry for the rambling and Good Luck with conceiving and some luck with that husband thing. :)

My sister is actually considering this. She is 33 and really wants another baby. She has an 8 year old daughter. Her and her husband got divorced and she has been single for 7 years now. She cant seem to find that special someone. She wants a baby with no strings ( no man attached ) she just wants to have the " mother" instinct again. I think she wants more before she gets too old. Just hang in there. If this is what you really want to do, i say good luck.

TAMMY- go to the problems getting pregnant board. there is a thread on there called iui and sperm donor part 6 or something like that there are a few girls on there who are using sperm donors for various reasons i myself included. talk to THAYWARD she is doing the same as you. she is single and doing it on her own without a man. my husband decided that we should use a donor because of a sperm problem so that is why i am using a donor. i am glad that i have someone to go through it with me although sometimes i wish he would go about his own business and leave me alone..lol..i am glad that he supports me though and if you have a good support system with your family and friends that is great. the women on the problems getting pregnant board are really great and there are some that have pcos that can relate to that part of it. good luck
