After following alot of these posts for awhile I wanted to tell you my story. I was 19 when I got pregnant. I had been with the father for less than two months and I was in the middle of taking real estate courses. I knew immediately I wanted to keep the baby. I told the father and two weeks later told my mother. She told the rest of my family for me. The father and I split when I was a little less than 5 months because he became abusive. I started dating another man and thought he would be a good stand in father. I was wrong. My daughter was born March 14, 2005 and he never worked again after I had her. I left him in September. Shortly after I started dating another man. We've now been together for a little over 6 months and I've come to realize my daughter has a father even if he's not a very good one. My boyfriend is just going to be a friend to my daughter. I've worked several jobs to make ends meet and taken in two roommates to help with the bills. I'm going to go back to school in May for Engineering. It may be difficult but with my daughter turning one year tomorrow I'm realizing that it was all worth it. If there's anything I've learned that I would have you all know, it's this: Your family may not like you being pregnant and single but they will get over it. You may have to give up a lot of luxeries but you won't really miss them. Your baby may not have a "real father" but you can still raise that child to be a good person. Money really doesn't matter. And last of all a woman can do anything she puts her mind to. If I can do this I know other women can. I wish you luck and lots of happiness. Take care.

your right. You dont need a " stand in father " . I would never put that responsibility on a man I was dating. What a child needs is a male role model...doesn't have to be mommies boyfriend. I am glad you realize your fine alone and having your daughter was well worth it !!!
