What The Heck Am I Supposed To Do

I'm five months pregnant and I've just learned that I'm going to be layed off at work because the business isn't making enough money. I'm so stressed because I can't afford to go on employment insurance, it doesn't even cover my bills. I was thinking about going on early mat leave but the money I get from that still won't cover my living expenses. It was going to be ok when the baby came along because I will be getting child support from the baby's father. What the heck am I supposed to do? The only solution would be to get another job but who is going to hire someone that has to leave in four months? I have all these expenses I have to pay for monthly from before I knew I was pregnant and a minimum wage job just won't cover it all. Plus, when I'm as big as a house, I'm going to be limited as far as what I can do. Does anyone have any helpful advice for me? I live in Cananda so that probably makes a difference.

There are ALWAYS resources for pregnant women, you just have to know where to look. Do you guys have planned parenthood where you live? Or there may be a Crisis pregnancy center nearby. Since you posted on here, you must have access to the internet, so hop on google and look it up. Crisis pregnancy centers sometimes have housing and such, so you could do that. Are you going to keep the baby? In case you're thinking about adoption, my husband and I are very interested in open adoption. If you want to contact me about anything at all, my email is promie@gmail.com, okay? Good luck. And remember to take some time to relax, stress isn't good for the baby.

Thanks for your advice PromiseJubilee. Those sound like good ideas. Luckily I'm not so bad off that I won't have a place to live. My parents let me live in a condo they own. I might ask the father of this baby if he would be willing to help out since he's a part of this anyways. I never considered adoption but I wish you guys luck in finding your own bundle of joy. I am adopted myself so if you have any questions as far as what it's like for an adopted child I would be happy to answer any. You can email me at nzackaruk@hotmail.com. Thanks again for your advice. :)

What about a temp agency? Do you have those in Canada? Do you have any family members or friends that you can get you a temp job with their employeer? Gosh, reading these other responses I can not believe people are asking you to adopt your baby, how rude. Were you even asking that. Good luck to you, hang in there. I had a baby 9 years ago, with no job, no place to live and no money. I did it. It was a struggle, but I found someone to hire me when I was 5 months pregnant. You can do it, have faith in yourself.

I found out I was pregnant a week after I'd lost my job. I ended up staying home and working side jobs. Have you thought of maybe selling things on ebay, starting your own business, or becoming a representative of a company that pays you commissions based on your sales? I know of 2 good companies to join, one is in the health industry (but is only available for those who live in the US), and the other is a 114-year-old company in the beauty products industry (the company is also in 137 countries). These things may not make you rich right away, but I feel that any extra money is good money... especially when you're running out of options.
