I am a 28 year old pre-med student. I just recently found out I was pregnent. I have worked very hard on my studies (4.0 gpa) and do not wish to interrupt my momentum. My boyfriend, when I gave him the news was so excited, he has always wanted children, and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that our family is taken care of and that I finish school. I had a dream of doing doctors without borders, and upon mentioning this he said "its ok, we'll come visit you". He is so confident that we can do this it has caused me to reconsider getting an abortion. I dont know what to do! I dont want to chose having a family to make him happy. I want to make this choice based upon everyone's future happiness. I have always said I dont want kids. With my career it may never be the right time to have kids. I just dont know what to do!

This is a potential life-changer for you. The chances are that one day you will want a child, but you have a dozen years before that decision point. You and the boyfriend evidently have radically different ideas about the path(s) your lives are going to take. If you have a child now, you will likely have to abandon most of your dreams. Is this really a match made in heaven?

Have you considered adoption? Open or semi-open adoption would allow you to know how your child is doing and have even have a relationship with them and you would be able to pursue your dreams of doctors without borders?
