it really worries me that so many people write such stupid answers to questions on these websites. drinking in small amounts is ok for a pregnant mum. so please stop writing silly emails to frighten girls who are seeking advice.

who says drinking small amounts of alcohol is ok for pregnant women??

Stop drinking and stay away from smoke. Eat healthy food, no junk food. The food that is good for it should help.

I know many girls in their 20's who think drinking during 3rd trimester is okay. Any info on this site about that?

s... small amounts of alcohol really won't hurt your baby.. look it up in pregnancy books or even ask your doctor. There is a certain (small) amount that is okay. I think it's the equivelant of 1 gla__s of wine a week or something. Now obviously it isn't GOOD for your baby and you should avoid it at all costs, but a few drinks won't hurt. If you were drinking before you found out, don't stress. There's nothing you can do about it now anyway, just take good care of yourself for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Anyone who is trying to get pregnant, thinks or knows they are pregnant should avoid alcohol altogether. There are not conclusive studies on how much alcohol is needed to cause birth defects. It can be pretty random. Many people drink through pregnancy and the baby is healthy, while other people only have a few drinks early in pregnancy and there are negative effects. If you just found out you're pregnant and have been drinking until now, the only thing you can do is tell your doctor, stop drinking (if this is a problem, tell your doctor) and hope for the best. Try not to worry roo much... stress is also bad during pregnancy. God bless!

Please don't worry. In Europe, where I come from, doctors are much more relaxed when it comes to drinking during the pregnancy. First of all, there is hardly any blood contact between yourself and the phoetus in the very early weeks of pregnancy. For the later stage, they advice you to limit yourself to a gla__s a day. Now: I would suggest that you follow the advice of your doctor, but that you realize that in other parts of the world professional advice can be different, and that we have a whole lot of perfectly healthy children out here...

You shouldnt drink while being pregnate. i am learning it in school, it totally effects your child and the way it learns, breath's, interacts with others, looks etc. Not even a little bit of alchole is ok. You have to take responsiblity and do the right thing for you and your child- stop drinking. You want your baby to come out beautiful and smart. If you have a problem and cant stop drinking you should seek help, and its okay everyone has problems. Dont make your baby the victim and feed him/hersomething that can harm the child. I was reading some off the answers some people put and they said drinking while being pregante is ok? or even just a little bit? i told my parenting teacher and we've been reading them all over, there is no way it is okay, im 17 and i know it isnt ok. Its like giving a baby a ciggratte to smoke while its just born, is that okay?.. I hope you do the right thing. goodluck, and godbless.

There is nothing you can do about it now, Helen. Dont make yourself crazy thinking about it, as stress is not good for your baby either. Dont let negative comments bother you, because these people really dont know. Just take care of yourself and your baby.
