i just do not know what to do i found out i was pregnant a couple of days ago and do not know what to do? I recently graduated from college and for the last couple of months i have been looking for a job but no luck ......i am 24 and the reason i have health insurance was b/c when i turned 23 i was still in college and they cut me off my father's health insurance, so my grandmother knew since i had some other minor helath isssues to take a cobra plan out with my dad's work so i would be covered until i got a job, however, the cobra plan only lasts about 18 months and i have already been on it for 13 months and so it end in september 2005, and i would not be due until november, plus ny grandnother would just cancel the plan anyways once she found out i was pregnant b/c she thinks i am a virgin b/c she is old school and i have been dating my boyfriend for 5 years but she does know and either does my dad because it is a interacial couple and i am white and they would not approve, so i just do not tell them about b/c it is less stress, i need advice i could not do the whole adoption thing, it would be too hard for me b/c i do want kids one day when i can support myself and then have children, this was not planned, i was even on birth control pills, please i do not know what to do my boyfriend is hinting around at abortion b/c of me being unemployed and having no insurance upon delivery plus i could not even use the insurance until delivery b/c my grandma gets the claims and would find out and then she cancel it, someone mentioned medicaid to me, but do you think they would give it to me, b/c they might see that i am unemployed but have some form of insurance and disqualify me, i feel like medicaid is my last chance, any info would be great .....thank you for whoever reads my story

Hi Leah. Sounds to me like it's time to really start job hunting! If you've been out of school for 13 months and still haven't found a job that means you're not looking hard enough. You may be waiting for the perfect job to come around, but now is the time to take ANY job out there - secretary, retail, anything to get those benefits. You need to provide for yourself and your child. Even if you tell your family and everyone's elated at the prospect of a new family member, you can't expect your Dad or Grandmother to support you forever. Time to stand up for yourself and start taking some responsibilites. You have a college degree - go use it! But just as alternatives, look to see if your bf's employer will allow you to go on his healthplan - many companies allow couples living together to be insured together. At your age and with your education, it's time to move out and start standing on your own two feet. You have to be a mom real soon! Good luck!

thank you for your advice but i have only been out of college since this december , that would make my job hunt only 3 months along and the only reason they had paid for my insurance for 13 months is b/c when you turn 23 reguardless if you are still in college you get cut off of the plan, and they have only been paying it because i have some other health problems that are not life threatening but need monthly medication so they were herlping me out, i have had jobs since i had working papers at 15 this is the first time i am unemployed and just me i moved to a new city in jan to be with my boyfriend , so it is really hard learning a new city and job hunting, they only ever supported with health insurance b/c of being hospitalized before for kidney problems and do not pay anything else for me i have paid my own way through college with jobs and financial aid and student loans, so thank you for your advice but i do not want you to think i am mooching off my family and just kicking back for 13 months jobless.
