I am a 26 years old and 6 months pregnant. The father is my soon to be ex husband. I really don't know why he is doing what he is doing but I think this is a result of me leaving because of the abuse that I endured during the last three years we were together. He is 100% sure that the child is not his because of the fact that I came to him two months after I had moved out. He stilled claimed it after I showed him the first sonogram and the dr's paperwork proving the conception date. I am angry because of the way he is acting, but I am scared of what the future holds for me and the baby. Any advice?

When the baby is born you can file for proof of paternity and the court will make the father take a paternity test. Now I'm not exactly sure who has to pay for it, but most likely if he's the father he will be the one that has to. Once paternity is confirmed you can get child support. BUT if he is the father then he has rights to see the baby and eventually to take the baby for overnight visits. That's something you really need to think about. If you can afford this child on your own, I would let him go on thinking that he's not the father because he might abuse your child like he has abused you. Also keep in mind that you can get Medicaid for the baby and you can join programs such as WIC which will help you pay for food for the baby and diapers and such.

Oh and since he is your husband then he might be deemed the legal father anyways, regardless of him denying it. You need to talk to a lawyer. There are free legal advice sites on the internet if you want to do a search for them.
