Condoms are 98-99% effective in laboratory settings, but under real-world conditions (which are prone to human error), the actual pregnancy prevention effectiveness rate is around 86% (which means 14% will get pregnant while using a condom). You can check it out for yourself on the FDA website at http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/1997/conceptbl.html.

to the woman who said that condoms and birth control are 98-99% effective and "it seems to me that every girl who gets pregnant was using both of them. yeah right" i WAS usig both of them when i got pregnant at 16 with my daughter. and i took my pill every day faithfully! i don't understand how people can just a__sume that because it didn't hapen to them, it doesn't happen to anyone? please don't a__sume anything about anyone, it's not fair and will only cause problems. btw, congradulations on your pregnancy!
