1st Time Mom Stupid Labor Question

Hi, I'm now 39 wks and have been having lots of BH, but i was wondering... My BH haven't been painful, I can tell just because of the tightness of my belly, but with real contractions, where do you feel the pain? Is it the belly where you feel the tightness? Or is it lower near the cervix? I feel silly asking, but I really don't know what to expect. I'm hoping every new sensation is the beginning of labor! I have been getting dizzy spells and cramps too. I think it's just wishful thinking that he'll be here soon! Any insight on what you experienced is welcome, thanks

Definitely not a stupid question. I'm a first time mom, due Sunday, and I often wonder what it'll be like, too. Some of my BH are quite painful, though. They feel kind of like menstrual cramps and I feel pain near my cervix as though the baby is really pressing against it. Also the top of my belly is EXTREMELY hard and it gets very, very uncomfortable. It's hard to explain the pain part of it but it hurts all over the belly.

Not a stupid question at all! I just had my third baby a couple of weeks ago, and when labor started with her I wasn't positive at the beginning whether it was real or false labor! The best way that I can describe "real" contractions is that they are like strong menstrual cramps and they start to become regular. Towards the end (like two weeks before she was born) I was often crampy on and off, but with the real contractions my uterus hardened at the same time (like with Braxton Hicks). Good luck!

Thanks, I just feel so clueless, even though I've read so much! So the pain is a bit lower though at the same time your uterus is hardening? I have been having both of those at the same time, but I hope they start soon!
