33 Wks And Crazy Contractions

This is my 2nd pregnancy and I've been having BH with this one since 15 wks, sometimes several a day and sometimes I'd go through periods of almost a week without any. I expected them to get worse as I got further along, but lately it's been ridiculous. I sometimes get 15 or 20 a day, often 5 minutes apart for an hour or so, and they're really strong. And the last couple of days I've had a few that felt more like real contractions, a little painful and lower in the abdomen with some back pain. They feel like the contractions I had at the beginning of labour with my son, but they're not evenly timed or anything so I've never been concerned that I was actually in labour. It just seems a little early for them to be so strong and frequent. Of course I'd love to be a little early, but not this early! Has anyone else had this happen? Did it slow down or just keep getting worse? I can't imagine going through this for another 7 weeks...

Erin, I've been in the same boat. I am on my 4th pregnancy and have been having contractions since my 2nd trimester. I even went to the hospital twice with the first time they had to stop the contractions and the second time they sent me home with early labor, duh. I am still prego and having tons of contractions that are not doing anything to me as for progressing. Sometimes my contractions are strong and sometimes they are just a tighting of my belly. I am now 40 weeks along and I am still waiting to go into full b__wn labor. Just think though, you will be ready and the labor should be very easy when you finally go into the full b__wn labor due to all the contractions you previously have gotten. Wow I am having a severe contraction now as I am typing. I just hope its soon for me. Good luck and think positive for a short and easy labor!!

I started having bh at 15 weeks also. I'm 29 now and was put on bedrest for 2 weeks for possible preterm labor. I was having bh every 2-3 minutes, my stomach would tighten, clench up, and I had some mild cramping. I told myself going to labor and delivery that as soon as I got there and hooked up to a monitor they'd stop because that's just my luck......better safe than sorry though and they just kept coming. They gave me a shot of terbutaline, put me on procardia twice a day to help slow them down, and a steroid shot to help his lungs develop incase I have him early. There's a really cool fetal fibronectin test that is just like a pap smear, it's a v____al swab. If it comes back negative it means there's a 95% chance that you will NOT go into labor in the next two weeks......the positive results are a little less reliable but if it does come back positive, which mine did, it means you've got about a 1 in 6 chance of going into labor within the next two weeks.
