I am 36 weeks gestation, baby girl is measuring 38 weeks, doing breathing movements and weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces as of 5 days ago, I am dilated 2 cm and have been having contractions on and off since my last ob appt. My ob advised that he will not do ANYTHING to stop labor as she looks good. Is now a good time to consider stripping the membranes to get things going? I am a bigger girl as is my little one apparently and worried about not being able to have a va___al delivery

Wow I am so jealous that your baby is measuring that big at 36 weeks. My baby might be that big but the doctor didn't say anything to me. At 33 weeks the baby weighed 5 lb 6 oz so he probably is as big as yours. I will probably find out more next week if they are going to induce me early or not because of my size. My last appointment the midwife did say I was measuring 37 1/2 weeks and I was just 35 weeks along. It's so hard to tell what the doctors are thinking and what they are wanting to do with you. I think that stripping the membranes couldn't hurt anything if your doctor agrees to do so. I would definitely ask your doctor if they will otherwise just have S-E-X. That will let off a hormone that tells your body to go into active labor and have that baby!! I am thinking about doing it. I have been having preterm labor and they gave me a shot to stop it but that was early last week so of course they are going to try to stop the labor at 35 weeks. Ugh I am miserable and in pain too but not dialated at all from my last ob appointment. Good luck and let me know what happens. When is your due date? I am due March 15th.

Im due March 15th too lol. Kayla~ 1st im glad to hear that your kiddo is doing well and being chunky lol. Have you tried Walking?? I know the thought of walking alone makes me tired but ive heard wonders about it. Esp if you are already dialated to a 2. And yeah s_x is suppose to "possibly" help because of something in the s____n...GL lol. I know my doc probably wouldnt strip the membranes until i was at least 39 wks or so. I say just ask your doctor. But...they say the kiddos come when they are ready and the longer inside the better :-)GL girlie (i say walk walk walk)

Hey Kayla, I just wanted to rea__sure you that your baby has the greatest chance of being able to be delivered v____ally. My midwife delivers 9 and 10 pound babies on a regular basis. It was really cool because she had this model of a pelvis and she showed us all the joints that get relaxed with that hormone relaxin that has been coursing through our veins, causing us such misery and pain. And also the baby's head flexes and bones actually overlap on their skull as they're coming through. Don't worry hun-- it'll all work out just fine!

Yeah...I'm at 39 weeks, and last week my doctor told me he was anticipating baby being 10lbs! Which scared me, because I'm just a little person. But my aunt had 8 kids, the largest being 11lbs, and every single one of them came out v____ally without any problems. And she is one of the most pet_te women I know. Let that baby bake as long as it wants to. I know how uncomfortable it is, and how scary the thought of labor is (I'm feeling it with you!), but my doctor reminded me of how extremely healthy and happy bigger babies are. In his words..."You can poke them, and they just grunt at you! Unlike those little babies who scream and scream." Just let nature take it's course...I wouldn't start worrying about initiating anything before you actually hit 40 weeks gestation. (Depressing, I know.) Keep in mind that ultrasounds can be out by 2 weeks on dates, and up to 2 pounds on weight, so unless your ob knows these numbers by his training and by feeling your baby, they could be out. Walk lots. Try to have s_x. Relax! And just let baby come on its own. Good luck!
