Ok this is really embarrassing and probably TMI but I have a question - I am 39 weeks and 1 day pregnant and I believe I may have a slight case of hemorrhoids - not really sure as I have never had them. Basically feel a lot of pressure in the obvious region and I had a look (SORRY TMI) and I just look a bit swollen (a few lumpy areas) around the area - my question is - can I just go to a chemist and get a cream or do I have to go to a doctor. I still go to the toilet regularly and its not too painful - just that pressure. Any advise appreciated on what to do about it - I think it is pretty normal at this stage due to the baby dropping etc????? Sorry about the graphic detail but it seems pregnancy is full of embarrassing things haha.

You can go to the drug store and buy a cream with out seeing the doctor. There is one called preparation H. There are others but I don't know the names of them. Luckily I never had this problem during pregnancy or after delivery.

hi, i actually have the same problems (unfortunatly, I think I have it 10 times worse...lol)...I did have to go through my dr, b/c some over the counters you can't use when your pregnant...just call your dr's office and they can tell you what kind to get, or they will give you a prescription...good luck :)

hey there, ahhhh the joys of pregnancy--- i say dont worry about tmi, we're all in this just like you and im sure you're not the only one with this problem :) i had them with my first, thank god not with this pregnancy, but what i found relieving the first time was ice. i never got a cream for it but i know there are tons out there, i think you could probably deal with it on your own.... you're lucky they're not painful!! mine were..... and btw, it is TOTALLY normal for this stage.

Thanks so much for your answers! It is amazing how much more relaxed and less freaked out you feel when you know it is normal and other people have been there done that ha ha! I am lucky I got them toward the end really and I have heard some people have quite a bit of pain too which I don't really so I have to look on the bright side. I will make a trip to the chemist today and have a talk to a pharmacist and I will try the ice too if i need some extra relief! Thanks again - you girls rock! :)
