Ok so my due date is today and all I've been having the last few days is really bad cramping and insane pressure. My doctor will induce me next Wednesday if I don't go into labour on my own...however I would like to avoid induction if possible. I have tried things like drinking red raspberry leaf tea to 'ripen' my cervix and did lots of walking, even s_x which is so uncomfortable right now. I saw my doctor on Monday and was diagnosed with Toxemia which I am now on medication for, I'm so uncomfortable I can barely walk let alone sit properly. Any suggestions as to how I can move things along myself? Do squats work? UGH, I'm just SO ready to go now....40 weeks too long! HELP!!!

You poor thing! Have you had an induction before, or is this your first child? I am 35 weeks with our second, so I know how you must be feeling. I am so sorry you are having problems. I hear that a squats are supposed to help, but I never tried it myself. I however was induced with my daughter and have to say that it wasn't bad at all, if that is what you are worried about. I also understand if you really want to start labor on your own with no intervention. Just know that if you do need to be induced to get things going that the outcome of a healthy baby will be the same. You CAN do it.

hiya, o man i know how you feel! i was late with my son and my midwife gave me homeopathic cohosh.. its an herb that can bring on labor so it's dangerous and regulated and depending on where you live you might not be able to get it but that worked for me...

This is my first pregnancy but from my friends with inductions I've heard nothing but bad things. I just don't think my body can physically handle another week I am in so much pain.

Hi Gla__schicky. Well firstly sorry you are feeling so horrible at the moment! This is my first but too so I cant really comment on induction versus no induction but I do know 2 friends who had to be induced and both said it was a positive experience - hope that eases your mind a bit - but I know everyones different.... I will cross my fingers that you go into labour naturally VERY SOON!!!!!!

I was induced with my first and it was not a good experience, I won't go into details....but my friend was going to be induced so she went and got accupunture done to bring on labour naturally and it worked, the day before the induction she went for accurpuncture and gave birth the next day..Im going to try that this time. Every body is different with inducment so yours might take to it very easily..good luck!!

Oh man I also tried the acupuncture and although relaxing I just got cramps, pity, I know for sure it can work though, my body is just stubborn!

Gla__schicky Hi. I went to 41 weeks before they induced me and I know what you mean about the cramping and pressure. I tried everything also even primrose oil and red leaf tea. Nothing worked, sealed shut. I too wanted to avoid induction and wanted to do the whole thing natural but my lo was way to comfy and didnt want to come out, lol. Inductions are actually not that bad, they used cytotec on me and on the 2nd dose I started to do something, then they added pitocin to the mix. Thats when the contractions really started full force. I dialated pretty quick after they finally gave me the epi. All in all I have a big healthy baby and I am glad I was induced. Dont worry at least you know the longest you can go is until Wednesday. Relax as much as you can and do alot of walking that may help bring the baby down more. Also if you have a birth ball do pelvic rolls, that will help the baby put pressure on the cervix and hopefully get things moving. Good luck to you and I hope you go soon!!

Try eating mac and cheese with A1 steak sauce on it, I swear this works, know three people that have eaten it and been in labor within just a few hours, trust me!

Hey guys, just to let you know I had my baby Sat 21st june 08, he was 7lbs 6oz and I went into labour on my own! My water broke at 6:30am and I had him at 5:30pm. Thank god I didn't have to be induced....still had to push for 3 1/2 hours and get an episiotomy though...but it was worth it:) Thanks for all your advice though xoxo

Congratulations!! 11 hours for a first baby isn't bad at all. I was 11 and a half hours with my first. We will see soon enough how long my labor will be with this one. My due date is july 24th.
