I want to get a good one but not dig deep in my pockets. I really want an electric one that is maybe a double pump. I have never used one and I hate reading the reviews because I feel like sometimes people are just venting. But I would like to know what you Moms use..... Thanks!

I agree with ejmeskan. MEDELA all the way it works the best . I had the Pump and Style which I bought from a local store with my 2 year old it cost me $300 at the time and I ended up giving it away to a cousin who really needed one so I gave it to her. But I recently bought another it just arrived about a week ago and it is the pump and style advanced. I actually bought it from Hackleyhme.com a website that was actually recommended on the forum and it cost $240.

Buy your pump from Hackleyhme dot com. they are much cheaper and they have a variety, including the Medela pumps. I bought mine from them three years ago. They are brand new and in original packaging, just a portion of the price. Hey, I was the one who posted the thread about them originally. I'm so glad someone was able to take advantage of the info. Ofcourse when I bought my Medela pump in style back pack pump I only paid $115!!

You know I can't tell you what makes it the best, because I don't have much experience personally with other ones (beside a few manual Avent pumps in desperate times!) But this pump has been between my sister and I for 5 years, it produces a let down if you have trouble, it is extremely well made, and they are very helpful if you need any replacement pieces. I nursed for 8 years and hope to nurse much longer with this one and I was pumping 3-4 times a day at work and never had a problem with it!!! One option is renting one from your hospital. When I say the pump has gone between my sis and I that is the motor part, we both ordered our own pieces to the pump so it is sanitary, the hospital is the same situation, they will probably rent on to you for $40 and then you can get the entire pack of shields, tubing, bottles, ect for another $40 or so. If you like it then just go buy your own!! Good luck!

Medela Advanced hands down. The double electric pump. It's great - although I've never used anything else so I can't tell you what specifically makes it better. I bought mine on ebay a couple years ago for about $200. Just make sure you get one that's new, i.e. in a sealed box. Or you can buy a used motor and all new parts - check your local craig's list and such. Also, some insurance companies offer discounts or money towards a pump, so contact your provider.

mommaminchey, i have an Ameda and a Medela, and I personally like my Ameda better. No reason they are all really the same, but it works better for my b___sts. It is what they had in the hospital and i used it there and I just kept using it. I would recommend renting one from your hospital for a few months before you commit. I had bought the Medella before my DS was born, then in the hospital I used their pump and when I came home, my b___sts would just not work on any other pump. So I ended up renting it from the hospital for a few months and then bought the home model of that one. It has worked out great. Although DS is now almost a year old and I rarely ever pump anymore. But having a nice good pump is key to having any freedom. With my Medella I was pumping about 2 oz every feeding. But when I was using the Ameda from the hospital I got 6 oz. The lactation nurses could not figure it out, just said that my b___sts got used to the Ameda. GOOD luck!
