Labors Like Mom S

I'm curious to see if anyone has compared their labors to their mother's labors...as in could it be hereditary in terms of when we go into labor and what kind of labor we have. Just a question to throw out there. My mom is visiting today and had both myself and my sister exactly 2 weeks early so she is convinced I'm going next week at 38 weeks. I beg to differ, but thought it would be fun to ask :)

My mom had long labor with both me and my sister. I was induced and my sister i guess just took forever. With my daughters i was induced with my 1st and it didnt take to long and with my 2nd daughter i had her fast and on time.. So kinda different.

Yeah I thought for sure that I'd end up with a c-section and a long labor, since my mom was in labor with her first child for 30 hours then ended up with a c-section and my sister had the same exact experience. They were also both 1 week late. I on the oither hand had my son 5 days before my due date and had a quick v____al delivery. Its funny because the entire time I was pregnant I dreaded having the same labor and birthing experience that my mom and sister had, and in the end I was extremely lucky. So to answer your question, my experience was completely different, but my sister and my mom had the exact same experience.

Well, my mom had a long drawn out second stage, and she never fully dilated, so after 24 hours of her suffering they did a c-section. She also was diagnosed with something cefallic (sp?) disproportion thing, where your hips are considered way too narrow for the baby's head to pa__s through. So she ended up having c-sections with all 3 of us. I, on the other hand, dilated just like they say you're supposed to and had a v____al delivery. BUT, we both had good size babies.

You need to remember that it was different in our mothers day, most were forced to labour & deliver on their backs which caused alot of unnecessary complications. Labour is different for each woman even if they are related, & so are subsequent labours. My grandma had a horrific time having my mum, & mum had 3 c-sections, & we weren't that big. I was terrified of birth because I am smaller than both of them. But I was able to have a v____al birth for both my 7lb 9oz dd & my 9lb 3oz ds. With ds I was able to have a completely drug free natural water birth & was shocked when they told me how big he was. My mum is friends with a lady who had 6 kids REALY easy, short labours the lot. When her oldest daughter was preg she a__sumed she would have a quick easy labour cause her mum did, but ended up having a c-section & her baby was only 6lb. It can go both ways, but I wish you the best of luck & hope you have an easy birth no matter when bubs decides to come.
