I'm 35 weeks and for the past two or three weeks I've been experiencing some lightheadedness, I also see dancing black spots and feel very weak. It's almost like I'm going to faint, but I never do. It lasts about ten minutes then it fades, and it happens about every other day. The first time I experienced this, I vomited several times, but I haven't vomited since then. Anyone else experiencing this or know what could be happening?

Amanda - I think you better call your doctor sometimes that can be a sign of pre-eclampsia and that is very dangerous if left untreated and it's happening so often - I am not trying to alarm you and I am the last to try to throw out diagnosis I just read about it in one of my magazines - we had a girl on our July mommies forum who had to deliver via csection because of it at 28 weeks....Please please call your doctor - it might be normal if it happens less often but every other day is not a good thing I don't think but please call your doctor! Do not delay - none of us on here are doctors so call and she what they say....

Amanda I'd ask your doc to check you for preeclampsia. If it is that, there will be protein in your urine and you may experience swelling ( hands, face, and excessive in feet). It will also elevate your blood pressure. I'm not trying to scare you, but it's a really serious condition. I only know this because when I went to the doctor for my 36 week checkup they asked if I had any of these symptoms because my blood pressure was a bit elevated. They said usually the first sign is the swelling in the face. They can test you by a simple blood test, and a urine screening. Good Luck!

Thanks girls, I will call my doctor. That's strange though, they check my blood pressure and urine for sugar and protein every appointment, they checked me just yesterday and said I was fine. Is it possible that I might still have it even with those tests?

hm, it definitely sounds like preeclampsia, but it should have shown up in your urine. Are you swelling at all? You never really know though. Call your docs office to be sure and tell them whats up, Maybe they can do some labwork, because its definitely not normal to be seeing black spots, vomiting, or feeling lightheaded like you do with the other sysmptoms, hun. Just give the doc a call, so they can ease your mind and figure out whats up.

I do have swelling in my hands and feet but not my face. Well, my face does look more plump but I don't think it's swollen... I called my doctor about two hours ago and haven't received a call back yet. I read that preeclampsia can stop a lot of the oxygen and nutrients from getting to the baby, thus making it harder for her to grow. Which would explain why she's been measuring three weeks behind. He ordered a non-stress test to see if that was the case but the appointment isn't until tomorrow.

I got a call back. They told me to lay on my left side, drink plenty of water, and if I don't feel better in two hours to check into labor and delivery. I'm scared :\

Amanda don't be scared. Honestly I don't even know why they would tell you to drink water and lay on your side, that seems to mostly be for contractions and BH, but hey I'm not a doctor. Well I'd say to go to L&D anyway, just so they can blood test you and be sure. If it's not preeclampsia then they should give you some type of reason why you are feeling this way. It's definitely not normal pregnancy symptoms.

You know what, Amanda-that eally DOES make sense about why your measurements have been off. I would reccomend going to L&D right now too. Don't wait and lay on your side...that isn't going ot solve anything. We may have jsut figured out why your measurements have been off. Let them know at L&D about how you've been off and all the other symptoms too, hun and I'm sure they'll be able to figure it all out tonight. Don't worry, it'll be okay. We'll be here waiting to hear back from you.

Gabby is right....Usually you lay on your left side and drink water when you're checking for baby movement, to make sure the baby is moving.....so I can't think of why they'd want you to lay down to check for that... doctors and nurses can be so weird sometimes. But a visit to L&D will ease all your worry, hun.

Just got back... It felt like I was there forever. They hooked me up to a bunch of monitors, took my blood pressure, temperature, urine sample, blood sample, and an ultrasound. After all that they basically said that they have no idea what's wrong and everything looked great... So they sent me home.
