So I'm not quite 31 weeks pg. w/ #2 & for the past 10 days or so my sciatic nerve (at least that's what I'm assuming it is) has been KILLING me! When I walk it sends shooting pains, when I lay down or try to roll over in bed it's like someone is stabbing me...etc. I'm a very active person & I keep thinking oh, this is going to go away...is it???? Anyone know what I can do to alleviate the pain (other than give birth!:-) ) Thanks!

Tylenol sometimes helps, and it is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. For me the sciatic pain is just starting this pregnancy. It hurts when I walk, turning over in bed, and sometimes even when sitting. You may get some relief if the baby changes position, but other than that and the tylenol, you just have to deal with it. I wish I knew a miracle cure. I've never tried a warm bath, I might do that.

I've had HORRIBLE sciatic pain thru almost the whole thing and unfortunately it usually lasts til u have the baby. Try a heating bad or bath (not too hot on either) that sometimes helps me. Tylenol never helped my pain-it was so severe so my ob gave me darvocet for when it was really bad but I stopped taking them because i didnt want to take too much-Now I just deal with it-there's some days I can't even get out of bed!!

I never had sciatic nerve pain until I was pregnant with my first child. And unfortunately, after the pregnancy, it never went away. I won't have it for weeks and weeks, then all of a sudden for about a week straight I will have horrible sciatic nerve pain. And it is all because of the first pregnancy. Now that I am pregnant again, I get it more frequently than when I am not, and it SUCKS. I know how you feel. Warm baths help a bit. I never found that pain killers helped. For me the thing that helps the most is stretching my back and leg muscles.
I talked to my doctor about it and he says that there isn't really a way to help other than going to the chiropractor, which I can't afford. :(
Good luck, I hope you find a way to feel more comfortable.

Wow I was told I wouldnt have it after delivery. My chiropractor said during pregnancy they cant really do much to adjust you-I went one time and hurt worse after so I never went back-I am really hoping I don't have it after baby-I'm sorry that you still have to put up with it Danielle b/c it is most def painful!! I cant sit stand or lay down in a comfy position it seems like I have to get up at night and walk b/c of the pain. THE THINGS WE GO THRU FOR BABIES!!! LOL I wish men could carry em!! I just keep telling myself it wont be much longer now!
