lately i have been eating ice chips and pospicles several times a day. is this an indication of something else? just curious b/c i have never been an ice chip person- and b/c they don't have a flavor i wasn't sure if it was a craving. My sister always ate ice chips and that's how they found out she had something going on with her uterus which led to a complete hysterectomy....weird huh?

It is normal to crave ice chips and I am sure the popsicles are to due with the whole ice chips too. I love ice chips when I'm prego but any other time I don't want them. I had preterm labor a couple weeks ago and they gave me water with lots of ice chips. I loved it so much that I took the ice chips with me to my home. I wish I had ice chips now. Yummy you got me going now :-) That is weird about what had happened to your sister's situation, but I am sure yours is pregnancy related.

Sometimes the ice thing is an indication of an iron deficiency. You can try incorporating a chelated iron supplement (it won't constipate you if it's chelated) or yellow dock root. The yellow dock root is amazing for getting your iron back! It happens to me all the time, pregnant or not.

WOW! Me too! I just can't get enough ice. And let me tell you it is NOT normal for me. I didn't have this with my first lo. How did this indicate a problem with your sister?

You think that's weird, about a month ago I developed a craving for snow...yes, snow! I wanted it so bad we drove up to the mountains and I munched down! It was the best. But now I'm liking ice a lot too. I put a bunch of ice in a thermos with water and wait to chomp the ice when it gets softer and full of those little holes. It's delish! I think I'll be taking a trip up to the mountains again this weekend. There's a fresh crop of new snow for me to dig into!

Yeah, craving ice is usually a symptom of iron deficiency. My iron levels dropped, and the lower they got, the stronger my cravings got for Slurpees. I was to the point where I needed one every day...and wanted more! lol. Like Sarah21 said...try upping your iron levels. Although, eating ice won't hurt you...just make sure you don't start eating dirt, or anything else (chalk, etc) that aren't food, k?

If you eat snow just don't eat any snow with color for example-yellow, LOL

thanks for the great advice...iron def is probably what it is b/c my eating habits are not the best. I just went to the dr on thurs and forgot to mention this of course...iron is checked through your blood not your urine correct? I know everything was great- urine, bp etc but i'm not sure if they check me iron everytime or not. I will definitely call Monday to speawk with a nurse and find out. thanks again!
