My favorite activity in the summer is to go to our neighborhood pool when it opens and spend two hours swiming and reading a good book. I know that using tanning beds is not recommended but what about pool time out in the sun? Any info is much appreciated. I am 7 months pregnant.

I think so long as you don't burn - you are fine - I have never been told to stay out of the sun but you could always check with your doctor if you are really unsure.

I have been told it's okay also long as you put a good sunscreen on. I personally tan all year ( when not pregnat) and tan very easily. But since I have become pregnant I have stayed pale white... But 2 weeks ago I was outside with my husband and we were getting the pool ready for the summer. I was only outside for maybe 1 and a half and I burnt so bad I almost cried. I have never in my life burnt. I am still peeling and I am almost conveniced that something in prenatals did it to me. Anyways be care and remember your SPF even for a few short hours....

Hormones cause changes in the skin in pregnancy so often women will either burn or tan VERY easily. I usually tan very well, but this year I went out about a week ago and in literally 10 minutes in the sun I was red all over. I put spf 50 on and it didn't get worse, but I still burned some. It's just a pregnancy thing so use sunscreen!

also, hormones can cause you to tan all blothcy. Lol--- I'm 36 weeks and 4 days and laid out a couple weeks ago bc I'm so white. I think I spent like 45 mintes out and definitely burned, but tanned. Its important to keep cool though and keep pouring water on yourself. My midwife told me that the babies are much mroe sensitive ot the heat because they get warmer in there really fast, so watch how much time you spend laying out in the sun, but if you're swimming aorund, keeping cool, its A-okay!!! Its great exercise for preggos too!

I'm in Florida and I am out in the sun every chance I get! I took it slow at first to see if I would get the pregnancy mask from the sun (cholasma i think it is called... the blotchiness) and I wear sunscreen (15spf) and have a great golden tan! I am a surfer/boater/diver normally so it's hard for me to stay away from the water and sun. I think if you are pale... take it slow, put on sun spf and enjoy yourself! Also, the advice of staying cool is very obvious... we are all so hot anyways, but the best thing is you can get a floppy raft and lay on your belly in the pool or ocean! That is my favorite part of it all! I miss laying on my stomach and this really feeds the desire! Enjoy and happy sunning! :)
