What Can I Do To Help Progress

I'm 38 weeks and go to the MD on Thursday and really would like to have made some progress since last appt. (36 weeks-a fingertip and 37 weeks-1cm) Other than s_x and walking are there any suggestions? My MD has already said that he will not let me go past due date w/o inducing and I would love to go into labor on my own if possible. So please help me out ladies!

I've read online that mopping seems to help.

Nipple stimulation. My hubby has had to stay away since I've been having contractions lol sorry tmi but I can at least tell you it works.

i definitely heard nipple stimulation works or if you begin to pump your b___sts now if produces the same hormones that starts labor. But i have also heard to stay away from ma__saging on the ankles b/c it can start labor so maybe if you ma__sage your ankles this will get things going. let us know what works for you if anything.

Ma--Believe it or not I actually do get stronger Braxton Hicks when I sweep or mop--maybe there's some truth in that :)

I hear that nipple stimulation works but you have to do it like 3 hours a day - and it can make contractions very intense, like when induced with pitocin. Why won't the dr let you go past your due date? Seriously, how can they make you get induced .... I've always wondered that. What if you just didn't show up? :) Is this your first?

fefer--my MD believes there are more pros than cons when going past your due date. I trust his decision whole heartedly but ultimately would love to go into labor on my own first.

oh--and this is my first

I have preterm labor contractions but I can tell you what irritates them are also bumpy roads and walking that causes some strain like going up hill or up stairs.

kay--we've been trying to walk whenever possible and it does cause me to have some stronger contractions as well. Surely some of this will help--only time will tell.

Evening primose oil, either by mouth or inserted v____ally.

Okay--so I went to the MD yesterday and was a 1 and a half and 30% effaced. I feel as if things could not move any slower. It's hard to not get discouraged. The MD did say that if he wasn't here by 4/14 that he was inducing on the 14th. So hopefully this baby will get a little more aggressive in his arrival. Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

ok ive been lookin online at different things to help, ive been trying some of them, but dont want to try the others......things i have tried... rub circular motion 4 fingerwidths above your outer anklebone theres a spot that is more tender (my friend swears by it, maybe im just doing it wrong), rub circular motion on the skin between your thumb and pointer (tried it, it just irritates me!), eat pineapple (im doing this a lot, i think it just cramps my tummy cuz its acidic, dont think its contractions!), tried the b___st pump thing too (its more irritating then helpful), went on lots of bumpy roads (just hurt my back!). there are tons of other methods ive read or heard about but i dont want to try. look up stuff on the net, but be careful cuz some of them seem way too dangerous or unhealthy!!

JuJul---I've looked online as well and have been trying the 2 pressure points that you mentioned for a few days. It's made me have contractions but they went away. I go to the MD tomorrow so we'll see if there's any progress being made.
