Okay guys, I need some quick opinions: Names: Ashlyn Kay, Caelyn Kay, Kinsley Kay or Caitlyn Kay. (we decided to pick 3 names we love and then name her when we see her) So do any of these sound good??

I really like Kinsley Kay!! has a cute ring to it!!! I think we are going to do the same - pick our top three and wait tillshe is born. But we have to pick three boy names too - since hubby doesn't know it is a girl!! :) But I am really leaning towards Ryann Grace these days!! Both me, my mom and my grandma all have the middle name Ann and it may be a neat way to incorporate that name into hers as well. I love the name game!! It does feel word not having a name for her yet though!!

Ryann Grace is very pretty Patti. Patti, Wyatt and Ryann. Perfect! You could try presenting it to hubby as "let's name the baby Ryan/Ryanne whether its a boy or a girl." Tell him that way you can both start talking to 'it' as Ryan/Ryann and he/she will respond either way when she or he is born. Did that make sense. I know what I meant!

I am so nervous right now! I've been crying most of the afternoon. I went 8 DAYS AGO (last Tuesday) for my glucose screening. The doc said that the results would be back in 2 days and no news was good news. I even called the office Friday because of my leg, and the nurse didn't even sound a bit concerned when she pulled my chart. Today, I got a letter in the mail saying that I failed the glucose screening and I have to go at 8 am tomorrow for a detailed 3 hour glucose tolerance test. How could they not let me know anything for more than a week???!!! Hello!! I have a phone!! Diabetes run on both sides of mine and both sides of Keith's family, but both of us have always been healthy. I don't even eat sweets that often. I know I don't eat as healthy as I could, but it's not like I eat junk food. Also, I drink more water than anything. Sweet tea (decaf) was my guilty pleasure, but I only put 1 1/4 cup of sugar in a gallon. I am so scared about tomorrow. I keep feeling like I've screwed up, and I don't know how to fix it. If you pray, please say a prayer for us tomorrow. =(

Hopeful- Its totally not anything you could control. I just got done doing a research paper on Gestational Diabetes for a cla__s. I learned a lot. First, it seems to be more genetic than anything. Its caused from the plancenta not allowing your body to break down sugars normally. Which, if it turns out you do have it, means that you'll just have to watch what you eat even more carefully for the remainder of your pregnancy. The biggest concern is that your baby would grow too big, but this can be mostly controlled through your diet as well. The only thing I did learn, that I thought was interesting...is that woman who come down with gestational diabetes are MORE likely to get regular diabetes within the next 7 years I think it was. Especially if it runs in your family you'll just want to be extra careful. Anyway, no worries though, from what I've researched it is not an uncommon thing to get, and it most of the time, can be controlled through diet. Keep us posted on what you find out from your 3 hour test. I haven't taken the 1 hour one yet, I have to this week.

Thanks for responding. I've been doing a lot of research through Google this evening. I read that most doctors will send anyone who gets a reading between 130 and 200 for the 3 hour test. The article said that anything over 200 was considered an automatic confirmation of gestational diabetes. I felt somewhat better when it said that only 1/3 of the women sent for the 3 hour test actually has g.d. Also, I learned that women who do develop g.d. are believed to be at a greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes later in life. Risk to the baby includes large birth weight (resulting in c-section), difficulty breathing on their own after birth due to their blood sugar bottoming out, more apt to get jaundice, more likely to be obese as they get older, and are more likely to develop diabetes as an adult. Regardless of the results, I know that our eating habits are going to change.

hey.. Im not an august mommy (im due in june) but I got bored and was reading your thread and just wanted to throw my two cents in. Hopeful3, try not to worry to much about your test, my one hour results came back elevated so I had to take the 3 hour test.. its kinda sucks cause you have to fast then sit in the docs office for like 4 hours while they draw your blood every hour for three hours.. its boring lol anyway, my three hour test came back normal. dont freak yourself out to much, its really not THAT big of a deal like preggosauce said you just have to watch your diet and such but Im sure you have nothing to worry about. good luck hon!

Morning peaches! Okay, much better night and morning than the previous. Ooohh you are brave Danielle. I tried to potty train my son when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and it was not a good turnout. I decided rather than stress us both out, I just waited and he ended up potty training himself! Luckily the babysitter I have for the girls (she's like a grandma to them) is very diligent about potty training them when they turn 2. If it weren't for her, my youngest would probably still be in diapers. Is anyone starting to wake in the middle of the night like clockwork? I have been waking at 1:00 am for the past few nights. I wish I could take a picture of my cat that sleeps on my stomach. I lay on my side with the pillow between my knees and kinda up to my chest. Oh, she loves it-she just sprawls out all over Creedence and the pillow. Did ya'll realize that this is the First Mother's Day for some of you!!!!! How exciting! I posted something on the board that I had emailed to me this morning. It was very true, so check it out if ya'll get a sec. :-) Wow, why am I in a good mood. Scary!

Its at 8:30 in the morning. But I get so light headed if I don't eat every two hours or so, especially in the morning. You bet your a__s I will be dining at 11:55 the night before. I wonder why some ask you to fast and some don't. I had to call and double check whether or not I had to fast, I would have been p__sed if I had eaten not knowing and the test come back high and then gotten a false positive or something. B___ds.
