Believe me Toya, a "you're right" from someone like you doesn't "appease"me. I just find it funny that when other people respond pa__sionately to something you don't agree with, you to bash them or join forces with other women to bash them, like for example, your response to EM and then and the other one on cervical checking about "their poor babies" and so on and so on. If the "manner" in which someone asks a simple question can upset you so much to not even bother to respond, then you are the one that's irritated and the computer obviously has a lot of power over you. The whole idea of not taking it personally has been brought up before by several women already. Believe me Toya, your answers don't threaten me, they amuse me. But I hope your last entry made you feel better, you seemed to be very OFFENDED that some people now all of a sudden don't agree with you. I call that insecurity.

Toya - May 5

When I look back, I regret typing what I typed last night...because it wasn't worth it. I apologize. I have too many positive things going on in my life right now than to respond with negativity or to respond to negativity...The best of luck in your pregnancies.

EM - May 5

Julie...Thanks! I would have never thought of that situation. Sound like for you it was a life saver and a necessity. Anyone else have similar situations/stories?

Julie - May 5

Em. Your welcome. Yea, helped me a lot. Good luck all. I will check back in now and then to see how everyone else is doing. share due dates and stories your guys. We all learn from each other.

katie - May 7

i am also 39 wks and are dialated 2cm

Billy - May 7

Ok first jenny, you were rude in teh beggining very rude. I am a doctor, and yes you can check yourself, but unless you know what you are looking for it is diffcult. you alos have to have a good understanding of measurement. It can be done, if it coulnt then why can doctors and even nurses ASSISANTS do it hmm? Jenny I recomend you pay more attention to things and not be so rude. This is a forum to help people not degrade them. Her question is natural so there ya go. And everyone saying it was a stupid and ignornat post, you guys were wrong. And EM checkign yourself, just gives yourself a little mroe security knowing how much you are dialated any more questions ill be hanging around here a little while longer, so ask away.

Trish - May 7

Billy, do you know what I find funny? That people are STILL telling this Jenny girl how rude she was even after all this time...do you know what I find even funnier?...that some people are still dwelling on it...do you know what I find the funniest of all? That she's probably had her baby and doesn't even give a sh** and we're still at her...we need to give it up....and Billy who really are you? Because Jennie hasn't posted in a LONG time and it appears this is your first time on this thread and MANY other people have posted on here even later and after her who have been just as rude and their have been other "fights" on this thread just as interesting, so why single someone out at the beginning of the thread ...unless you are someone else still goin on about it...Let's all forget about it, it's all been said already.

Leanne - May 7

trish, i second that...not that billy isn't ent_tled to her own opinion but if you look closely jenny hasn't posted in a long time so really what's the point of it...and your right, other more interesting topics have come up so really, why bother focus on something like one person's opinion so much?

Allison - May 7

Billy, you yourself just confirmed that it is difficult to check yourself unless you know what you are doing and that to me says it all...and as a so-called doctor...it's funny that you'd be arguing "for" it...my preferance would be to leave it up to you doctors but why don't I believe you are actually a doctor?

unknown - May 7

what an ego boost for her! if i were her i'd be flattered that ppl keep reacting to a comment that was made a while ago...

Chris - May 8

Yeah really leanne, who cares about this whole topic in general anymore anyways? it was cause for some heated debate but i think it's time we move on from it...lots of people write things that others don't agree with...but how long do we have to go on about it for, kinda like beating a dead horse, no?

alana - May 8

Tee you poor girl. I am sure you came to this site and asked your question bc you thought other pregnant women would understand you. I am sure you also thought people would be more respectful of your feelings. I am sorry it seems that none of this is true. But please do not let these people detour you from getting the information you need. I am sure you are so anxious to find out if you are dialated. . . I am too. But I would suggest waiting for your doctor. You do not want to cause an infection or hurt yourself in anyway. Better safe then sorry.

EM - May 9

It is the beginning of May now and this post started the beginning of April when Tee was 39 weeks...by god I hope she's had that baby by now!!! I wouldn't worry about her. As for a couple responses earlier...yes, I think this has been beat to death. Good luck everyone, I'm due in two weeks!

Al - May 9

yup...its gotten old. and there's no need to keep arguin bout it. some are for some are against some have strong opinions others don't, in the end what really matters is what you feel comfortable with...i'm checkin out of this posting...y'all have great pregnanciens

I am a MD - May 9

And to the ladies that say you can't check your own cervix for dilation, you are wrong. It is difficult to say the least but it is possible and you don't have to be a MD to do it yourself. It is easier to let your husband do the procedure for you but if you are an average size pregnant women you can with alittle patience check yourself. Some people say it isn't safe and sanitary, but it would be no different than having s_x or foreplay while being pregnant. If your water has broke or you think it might have then it isn't safe at all. It seems to me a lot of people who write in on this site don't know a whole lot about the questions and there for shouldn't give answers.

L&D Nurse - May 10

Listen guys......I can't believe everything I'm reading. It sounds like none of you have any kind of obstetrical training, so you all need to relax and stop trying to answer each other's questions. I've been a labor & delivery nurse for 5 years now and it is definitely possible to check your own cervix!!! The problem is knowing what your cervix feels like!! It took almost every L&D nurse I know MONTHS of practice and extensive training to even find the cervix!!! You can study books all you want, but when it comes to actually knowing what one feels like-- that's a different story! You only find out from experience. Also, it is not only possible for the p___s to touch the cervix during s_x, but EXTREMELY common! In fact, it would be quite difficult for the p___s NOT to touch it!!! Sorry guys......these are just the facts! Ask your OBGYN!!!!!!
