There's something called pubic symphysis disorder that's kinda like sciatic nerve pain, but more in the pelvic area. Sometimes when I stand up the bones between my legs feel achey.

yup seems about right that's when mine started. in short it's a dysfunctional pelvis, or yes pubic symphysis disorder. it's horrible and it's so bad at night when i move from side to side. mine go better a little bit around 31/32 weeks and then boom all of sudden it came in full force. really there is no relief. i take a warm/hot bath once at night and once inthe morning, i find that it helps soothe. otherwise i spoke to my ob about it and he shrugged and said its normal part and theres not much he can do. but do tell them, so they know and it's noted incase it causes too much pain during labor might have to c section. also, my mom said she had the same thing in her pregnancies, but my sister and friends never heard of it. so for soem it happens and some not. but i know the pain and i feel for you, it's vry very painful.

is it a pain or soreness? i am waaay ahead of you (38 weeks) and am having a lot of soreness, like the muscle soreness you feel when you do a lot of situps, kinda. dr said it's just the baby's head moving in position and lowering in my pelvis, pushing on the bones down there, causing soreness. so maybe its just the head getting in position? i dont think it's too early at 28 wks for the baby's head to start facing down, is it? dont know.....

sorry had to pipe back in this matter is personal to me, as i've been suffering for quite some time. denim its not quite like the pain of baby moving down, and no it's defiantely not the baby moving down inthe 28th week. it's like someone punched you in your hooha 50 times and then you're sore and if you move a certain way it's a sharp stabbing pain. it hurts when you walk up stairs or when you squat or especially for some reason when you move sides when you're lying down at night. warm baths help maybe even a warm bottle in the area might help. the bath just feels like lube to get the muscles going again. but i'm starting my 36th week and the baby still hasn't moved down, at least not in my opinion and i'm in a lot of pain. i udnerstand the pain you are talking about, the soreness in the muscles surrounding, but this is your pelvis like right in the middle, not the hooha itslef but just slightly above it, not too high but jsut where the folds meet. tmi i know, but its so painful i never thought i would experience something like this in my life.

oh and if you do move the wrong way and the pain attacks like a stabbing knife, yah then it feels like it radiates in every direction....it royally sucks.

Hi ladies...I am only 14 weeks but had this with my son last year. I was falsely diagnosis with this and told it was vericose veins in my pubic area. It didn't go away for me after I had my son so I talked to a PT and she gave me great advice. She said to out a pillow (I doubled it up to make it thick) or ball (medicine ball or regular) and squeeze your legs together as tight as possible, do that for a 10 count 4 times a day for a week and see what happens. I am telling you the pain went away within days. At the end of my pregnancy I actually had to crawl to the bathroom at night because it was so bad...so I feel for you. I am not sure how this works when you are PG because there are so many hormones and relaxins going on but its worth a shot...GOOD LUCK!

dang you mean this doesn't go away after birth either??? i'll shoot myself. thanks for the advice though, but i'll do the squeezing after the baby is born, if i do it now i feel like i might break my pelvis and from what i've read it's always said not to agravate it more by doing exercises or squating or anything that pulls or tugs the area.

I have been having this myself for a couple weeks I am 33 weeks now - I thought maybe I pulled a muscle there when I turned or something and when I mentioned it to a doctor they just said 'yeah maybe its a muscle' ...At least now I know it has a name! I have to get up SO slowly and turning side to side is so painful it wakes me up ..sometimes i wish i had a railing next to my bed cause I feel like if i had something to use my arms to pullmyself up out of bed it would allieviate some of the pain but who knows.

Whisper - April 19

I have this too, have had it for awhile now. I'm 34w currently and so far it has just gotten worse as each week goes by. Getting up out of bed, or rolling over to my other side is the worst! My pain seems to be mostly concentrated on my left half of my pelvic area, deep in the pelvis, and my hip. My right side is starting to get some pain, but its mostly focused on the left and it hurts like hell! I told my doctor about it, and she just told me it was normal and to deal with it. Yay. Well at first she tried to tell me it was ligament pain, but I'm like, no, its in my bones! I know bone pain - I gave bone marrow and felt like a cripple for 2 weeks after. This pain is very similar, just not as constant. This pain only hurts when I move mostly - like if I get in a good position it doesnt hurt again until I go to stand up, whereas the bone marrow donation pain was a constant pain for the whole 2 weeks that hurt no matter how I sat or laid down. It was still worse when I stood up, and overall hurt worse than what I'm feeling now - but the main difference is, I was allowed to take percocet for that pain, lol, and my doctor said I can only take tylenol for this pain, and that just doesn't cut it, lol. Oh well. She says it will go away after baby, but I've heard otherwise, so I'm just hoping she's right or I get lucky or something. Cause this HURTS!

I have the same problem Whisper and it is the most painful thing....I can't stand on my left foot at all because of the searing pain at night...it feels as if all of my bones in my hip are out of socket and i'm trying to stand on it....YOWZA. It goes away for me during the day and after i get up and walk around a bit. It takes about five minutes to walk to the bathroom at night. I think what this is is PGP or Pelvic Girdle Pain....all of the symptoms seem to add up. My doctor said the same thing..."it's round ligament pain" i was like whatever. so at my next apt i insisted she whrite me a prespription to see a physical therapist which will hopefully work. Look up Pelvic girdle pain and see if that is what you feel....and good luck!

ahemann99 - April 20

oh....and this isn't the same feeling as the achy bone pain in your groin....in my last pregnancy i had that which is the round ligament pain...this isn't fun either, but is MUCH easier to deal with than this sharp stabbing pain....it's like someone is playing with your nerves....like your being electrocuted in your hip...it sux! good luck ladies....only a bit left!!!
