Also what exactly is a "boppy"? it was mentioned before but I don't know what it is ....I just know I'm gonna fell like a fool once someone says what it is!! Thanks all and good luck!!!

A boppy is a pillow that is kind of like, horseshoe shaped, that is typically used to help prop baby up while nursing (pillow sits around your waist). It also has other uses. shopboppy.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 to see what it looks like and such

Thank you so much for telling me about the b___stfeeding pillow!! I wondered if that was it but wasn't really sure. Thanks also for your input on what to bring. It 's hard to know what you'll need and what will be a pain to carry for nothing. Thanks again!!

If you're interested in getting a boppy, the cheapest one I've seen is a plain white one at target for about $20. They can get pretty expensive. I don't plan on getting a slipcover for it (another $20!) I just plan on using a towel to cover it when feeding.

Bring a CAMERA, my husband and I forgot it, OF COURSE. Then something comfy for yourself to wear (the maternity clothes). A toothbrush for both of you and your partner and toothpaste, shampoo (they'll have some there though). Of course clothes for the baby, a car seat, a blanket. Wet wipes and diapers just in case (the hospital will give those to you also). Your phone book or cell phone, some snacks, a book to read. OH and make sure you car has gas in it, lol.

things i would not bring again: A robe! after birth your hormones are going crazy! I was literally sweating while i was just sitting there, i just wanted to sprawl out naked it was so hot!
Things to remember: Food for your hubby, i brought movies to watch while i was in labor, that kept me occupied- hair ties-
You dont need diapers or wipes they have all that there. If you want to clip their nails remember a nail clipper, they wont give you one there.
With my daughter I didnt bring any clothes ( except her going home clothes) Now that i look back i wish i would have put her in her own onsie and receiving blanket, that is def. something i will bring this time.

Word of warning - don't bring too much! It gets crazy trying to leave the hospital. You'll have the new baby, all the stuff for you, your dh, plus any flowers, gifts, balloons, and anything the hospital gives you. Pack lightly - anything you forget and realize you REALLY need the hospital will either provide or have for sale at the gift shop, or perhaps a relative can bring it by. Keep this in mind - you'll probably get discharged at the same time as many other women (9 am in the morning was the time at my hospital) and even though our hospital provided carts - the kind the bellhops use in hotels, there certainly weren't enough to go around for everyone. So you're stuck sitting there all packed up waiting while DH runs trips back and forth to the car.

bean is right, then you have to put all that stuff up when you get home, either that or just leave it sitting there for a while until you get a free minute and aren't in a zombie state from sleep deprivation, hahaha. I know that would drive me crazy...

I posted on the last one and I said pretty much what Bean said - don't over do it - CAMERA CAMERA CAMERA - after you have the baby your big thing will be getting a shower and feeling clean and directing visitor traffic - that requires minimal amount of stuff - I'd say clothes for you and baby small bottles of toiletries - and a boppy - oh and underwear if you like but the hospital gives you mesh ones to wear with the giant pads and they are nice because you don't hvae to worry about bleeding all over - I do suggest getting some puppy potty training pads from like Walmart or something so you can sit on them in the car (just in case) and on the couch and for when you sleep you will be so glad you have them that first week of heavy bleeding....I know i was - I would have had to change my sheets 3 times in one weeks since I really bled alot that first week and who needs that kind of extra laundry.....we are all getting so close I am going to pack my bag tonight I just have a feeling that I wont' be holding out til 40 weeks this time around!

ALSO - if you noitce or feel you have brought too much to the hospital then have your dh take a load or 2 home when he goes home to clean up then you will have less stuff - I had about 4 or 5 flower arrangement/balloons and what a nightmare trying to take that all home - if I would have sent it home with him everytime he went home (we live 5 mins from hospital) then we would have had a lot less stuff .....and you don't really need a diaper bag for the baby use 1 bag the hospital will give you

I had to have an emergency c-section and my baby was in the NICU for 9 days. I had planned a birth at a birthing center where I'd go home 8 hours after the birth so I was NOT packed for the emergency. I would recommend packing far more than you think you'll need because you never know what might happen. Not to be a pessimist but just because you really NEVER know. So I would plan to be there a minimum of 3 days and bring lots of chapstick!

hey, I just read about the puppy pads - great idea. A friend of mine bought some for BEFORE she gave birth in case her water broke in bed. She was supposed to give me some but...haven't remembered yet. :)
