If you keep the house well ventilated you and the baby will be fine. I recommend opening all the doors and windows and staying out of the house for atleast the first 3-4 hours. If your bedroom was painted as well then I would push the bed close to the window and sleep with it open. You may need an extra blanket, but who cares. This is what we did when our home was painted, I was also pregnant at the time and worried about it. this is what my OB suggested. Your other option is to just stayin a nice hotel for the night and let you house air out while you are gone. I hope this helps.

As long as it's not oil-based paint, you're fine. Your body will tell you if it can't handle it (headache, feeling queasy, etc). We painted the room next to our bedroom with oil-based primer, and I was fine. In fact, I was doing some of the painting, and my doctor said it was just fine. Just keep yourself well hydrated, and you should be ok.

Varnish is a no-no. Latex (water-based) paint is okay. If the varnish was well-ventilated than it's okay but not ideal. If you have the choice then don't be around it again but chances are it's fine.
