This has always been an issue with my little girl who is two and was just wondering if anyone else has a toddler who refuses to try new foods?

yup... got / had two of them... Both my boys. Nathan was a fussy eater and I had to "hide" different foods in the ones he likes to get him to eat something new. Jadon - is currently driving me nuts = he's 15 months had all the needed teeth and refuses to eat anything other then stage 2 baby food. It's insane - I keep thinking I'm gonna be putting a few jars of baby food in his lunch box when he starts school the rate he is going. I think it's the age... When Nathan turned three he was more open about trying new things.

one thing i have found lately with my 16 month old is that if i put new food in a small brightly colored plastic bowl and give it to her, she will try what's in it!

hey it was looking a bit pitiful wasnt it cendres ... Was even going to reply saying how lucky everyone is to have experimentive (sp) kids... I have tried to put different things in her little treat bowl, it kinda works but not really..... She has always been a shocker really, hopefully age will change that... it is frustrating hey jas hah....... cant say it improves as they get older. thanks all for the replies.

I came back to find this post....I was reading in one of my baby books and they say this is perfectly normal for a child of this age - to get stuck on one food item for a while, etc...suggested not PUSHING items on them that the more you PUSH the more they would DEFY. Kind of like everything else, huh?

Oh - it also said that some liked fresh cut up veggies (finger foods) better than cooked.

thanks for getting back trying, i a__sumed she wasn't the only one, however in my circle she is the only one, all the other friends kids are not like this so sometimes i feel a bit embarra__sed i guess, along with the fact her speech is also behind...... look forward to the day that things may change......... thanks for letting me know it is normal.

If my dd does that, I am going to blame it on her father. The only "vegetable" he will eat is lettuce. Not even potatoes, unless french fries count!
