this is for erin. i live in canada and i am 19 weeks pregnant with twins. i have had 4 ultrasounds already. one at 5 weeks when i was having pain from ovarian cysts. at that point the could see two sacs but couldn't tell for sure if it was twins so my doctor sent me again a week later to confirm. i also had an ultrasound at 13 weeks to go along with my triple screen test and then again at 18 weeks. i think that if u are feeling anxious u should insist that your doctor send you for an ultrasound asap. i have another one scheduled for 23 weeks. my OBGYN told me that i would have to have ultrasounds more frequently with twins so i am very surprised that you have to wait until 20 weeks.

Hi Madge! Congratulations! I am dying to finally talk to someone from Canada! I'm so jelous of you...Really, I had a GP appointment yesterday, my second, regarding the exiety and nervousness over this pregnancy. She is concerened that I'm not "peeing my pants" excited. I had a perfect pregnancy with my daughter and she expects this one to be the same. I have dealt with the minor things so far...yeast infection, really bad indigestion, that kind of stuff, but nothing major. I go to see the OBGYN on June 1. I think I will freak out on him if he doesn't book an ultrasound. As with my daughter, I didn't have one until my 21st week..... And I am going nuts! Madge, do you want to correspond via e-mail? Sort of a support buddy during our pregnancies? I would love to. erinr@coneco.ca
Talk to you soon! And take care. Erin

I think it is scary to be pregnant with twins. It seems like so much more can go wrong. I am also nervous about the future -- money and staying off work for a long time. I have been feeling bad about not just feeling sheer joy but the books I am reading make me feel better about my worries. I think it is normal.

To all the mommies to be.......Congratulations on your pregnancies, especially to those of you who will experience having two or three times the joy. I would love to experience having multiples. Best of wishes to all of you!

To quote the advice from my GP due to my anxiety over my twins, "Close the books and put them on a hig shelf. You don't read about all the bad things that can happen to you on a daily basis, so why scare yourself?"
It is helping...Good luck to you...

I, too am still having a hard time relaxing and being happy. However, I have truly noticed that when I am stressed out (ie: when my daughter is being a complete brat and makes me cry), I find that I get really bad stomach cramps. I also get bad headaches. I bet that if you concentrate on the correlation between when you are nervous and how you feel, you will see that the two go hand in hand. But, you're not alone. And to top it off, my hubby has been working nights. He crawled into bed at three o'clock this morning and put his arm around me. He went to rub my tummy and I just started bawling! I was so upset because I am going through all of this and all he is doing is being the wonderful, supportive husband that he is. I guess I should count my blessings....even the two inside.
Talk soon!
Erin

I think you are right. I had slight bleeding this weekend and went to the emergency room. It really added to my general stress level. I do need to calm down -- maybe take a meditation cla__s for new moms. I have a nine year old too and my stress around the pregnancy is making it harder to focus on him.

I also understand how you all feel. Im 12 weeks and a nutcase. My job is one the is very physical, requiring alot of walking and standing. The Dr said barring any complications I can work as long as I feel like it. On one hand I want to take care of myself (naturally) but on the other hand I dont want to get too paranoid. We really need me to make as much as I can now. Im afraid that I will push myself too hard without realizing it, just thinking I am being silly or paranoid. I dont know if that made any sense. Anyone have any advice for me?

First, congratulations. I know it is useless to say not to worry... follow your doctors advice, accept any help offered, hook up with a twins club in your area... and you are going to have two healthy wonderful babies.
I was pulled from work at 20 weeks (my twins are my first kids so I was able to be a woman of leisure from then on) I had no complications during pregnancy or delivery and was able to deliver v____ally at 38 1/2 weeks.
Good luck!
