A friend of mine was telling me that of her friend who is do the begining of January just found out she was having twins. Appearntly all this time the one baby was laying directly in the way of teh other one, so no ultrasounds showed this until now. So my question is how common is this, because now I wonder seems twins run in my family?

NOT COMMON! Twins are missed in the 1st tri 5% of the time and after 18 weeks 1% of the time. U/S are pretty accurate.

It's not just the ultrasound either that let's the doctor's know. High hcg levels, rapid uterine growth etc. Missing twins in the last trimester is VERY rare.
