Has anyone on here ever been pregnant with twins and not known it. Im 34 weeks with my third and 1 day and as of about two weeks ago have not been able to wear clothes that i was able to wear comfortably up through delivery with both my other two. Ive been dreaming about twins ALOT and twins run in both mine and my husbands family. I had my 34 week checkup today and the midwife said its unlikley but not impossible and when she measured me would not tell me what i was measuring and had a weird look on her face. She measured me twice then wrote it in my chart. Then she asked me if i had only had the one u/s and mentioned that i am already scheduled for another one at 38 weeks and would see then. I was thinking she would tell me not to worry and theres no way but she didnt. So i was just wondering if this has ever happenend to anyone else. BTW my hubby thinks its twins too. And he was right about the other two...he even knew i was pregnant with my first before I did. Sorry so long but Thanks!

I would think they would have seen it at your 20 weeks u/s, but I guess anything is possible. Have you been measuring big all along or has it changed just recently? I started measuring bigger around 16-20 weeks. You have a right to know everything about your pregnancy, so I would tell your midwife you want to know. Why are they doing another u/s at 38 weeks?

I would think that being that you have had 2 prior pregnancies you would feel A LOT more movement than w/just 1 baby. Had I not known I was having triplets I would have suspected something because I was getting movement ALL over at the same time and one baby couldn't do that. I would think it is highly unlikely, but not impossible I guess. Also, my friend gained like 20 lbs in 1 month w/her daughter and her doctor was making all sorts of faces at her.. did you gain a lot recently??

I didnt have a u/s at 20 weeks. They did one at the begining to date since i was unsure of my LMP and they are doing another one at 38 weeks to check the size of the baby and the thickness of my uterus to make sure i can handle another VBAC, I had a c-section with my first and a VBAC with my second. They only do one u/s during the entire pregnancy unless they think there is reason for another one. If you want to know gender you can pay $100 out of your own pocket but one is usually all the insurance companies will pay for anymore. As far as weight gain i have had soo much morning sickness throughout the entire thing that ivehardly gained at all. But my belly is HUGE. I can see that ive lost weight every where else though. And there is a wholelot more movement that with the other2 pregnancies...and all over too.

of course nothing is impossible. If she suspected twins I would think she would have ordered an u/s right away since twins are high risk, especially with the aging placenta and IUGR and waiting 4 weeks more is plain reckless. When I was 34 weeks, I was measuring around 47 weeks, so that shows you how big twins can make you. There are so many reasons that you could be showing big with a multiple pregnancy just being one of them. Good luck, though. Tell us in 4 weeks the results.

it is doubtful. I measured 45cm at 34 weeks...twins will make you measure WAY bigger. I agree with onetwo...if she suspected twins she would have ordered an u/s as 36 weeks if often term for twins. There would have been lots of things to tip off your Dr. to do justify another u/s. Since this is your third pg it may be your uterine muscles are stretched out and therefore bigger.
