Could It Be Twins

My daughter is pregant, she has been really sick this time, more tired, and has gained 29lbs. The doctor has said the time the baby is breech, until yesterday, now they say she is head down and already in the pelvic area(nurse could feel the head) on internal exam. She is only 28 wks and has started having contractions, regular enough to send her to be monitored. One time the heart rate is low next time it is fast??? the ultra sound showed 1 baby but I have heard they can be hid behind the 1st baby? Any answers will be more than welcomed.

I don't really know why you would think it is twins. When did she have an u/s? If she had her normal u/s at 18-20 weeks, the chances are less that 1%. H/b change when the baby gets active so that will explain the different heart rates. If she is being monitored, I would have to say there is just one in there that seems a little anxious to come out.

Guess I was just grasping for any answer, other than premature.Just reading the signs on the website made me wonder

Is she on bedrest or has she dilated at all? There is a test that they do called fetal fibronectin which can see if the body will be going into labor within 2 weeks. If her contractions do get bad, they will give her meds that should make them stop. I know it is impossible not to worry, but with today's technology, chances are very much on your side that things will be just fine. Tell your daughter to drink plenty of water for dehydration can bring on the contractions.

she has not dilated yet, they monitored her for a while yesterday and got the contractions to 17 minutes a part and released her, but they didn't didn't put her out of work, so again today the contractions are started but not as close as yesterday.
