Doctor Suggested I May Have Twins

Hello all! I was advised by my doctor to go to the ER today because of really sharp abdominal pains. I went in thinking I was exactly 6 weeks. Doctor did an ultrasound, and said I am actually only 5 weeks 3 days. And that the description of my pains are definitely round ligament pains. A week ago today my HCG level was 415, and today it was over 17,000. He said althought they only saw one yolk sack, the high HCG and early growing could be indication of another baby. I am wondering how viable this is and if my HCG level is really high for being barely 5 weeks. Please tell me about your experiences! Thanks so much for the responses!
