How common is it to have natural twin, fraternal or identical, with no help from fertility medicine and with no immediate family history of twins(closest is grandmothers sisters were twins) My sister also had twins, but due to IVF. My friend had natural twin girls and she was even battling PCOS. So, I know it CAN happen, but what are the odds??

I am having identical twin boys with no help or family history. However identical twins is not hereditary only fraternals are, you can still have fraternals though without it being hereditary. I read that fraternals are more common. About 4 out of 1000 are identical. Whereas fraternals occur more due to genes as well as women over 35 because their eggs are more sporatic and they sometimes drop more then one. Sorry if that was long but I read up alot on twins when I got pregnant with them. Good Luck to you.
